This is a question I witnessed a crime

Freddy Woo writes, "A group of us once staggered home so insensible with drink that we failed to notice someone being killed and buried in a shallow grave not more than 50 yards away. A crime unsolved to this day."

Have you witnessed a crime and done bugger all about it? Or are you a have-a-go hero?
Whatever. Tell us about it...

I changed my mind.
Inspired by a post below, I got to thinking; What the feck did we actally go to war in Iraq for? (British perspective)

To be honest, I thought from the outset that the whole thing would be about oil. It made sense to me that they could overthrow the questionable dictatorship and eventually install a puppet government to keep the black stuff flowing our way at a greatly reduced cost.

I even justified it against my own conscience. Those in the forces will probably disagree, but I reasoned that the forces are there to do the bidding of our benevolent (pah!) government. If we must kick some middle-eastern arse to get cheap petrol, then so be it.

The problem comes with the current price of fuel. We're paying more than ever, so what the feck was the 'war' about? Fukkin' CRIMINAL ah tells yeh!

yup
i agree. We are paying loads to fill up at the pumps now. If we were paying less as a result of the iraq war then maybe it would be more justified :)

agreed...
...the price of petrol has gone up here too. Now its 12p/litre!!!

but i live in the middle east.

@ pissflaps
Now that's just rubbing it in!

I heard somewhere that if the oil co's went nuts and gave the stuff away, we Brits would still pay about 70p/litre because of our shitty government.

Anybody who pays for petrol...

is an idiot!

*grabs syphoning tube*

*clears throat*

*prepares to be mentioned very soon in 'I witnessed a crime QOTW*

but seriously...
...12p/litre also includes a profit margin for the oil firm + a bit of tax for the gov.

Back in the UK the Gov are right shits charging the amount of tax that they do.

I fill up with 70 litres here= £8.50
As above but in the UK= £70

Thats £61.50 difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the words of madame C. Tate
What a fahkin liberty!

But how on earth would our army of unemployed youths and their multitudes of offspring (not to mention economic immigrants - don't get me started!) do without the trillions of pounds in benefits and social housing that the working folk are robbed to fund.
(, Thu 21 Feb 2008, 12:21, closed)
hmm, paying for feckless scum...
...admittedly there are many deserving people. I have a solution for the chav cunts though. If they get done for being a twat then ship them over here (Yemen) to do their community service. It WOULD sort them out, their pants would never have been so brown.

didst i actuate this dawning realisation?
personally,i would've felt better about a costly and unjustified war if it was,as the locals say up here,'just for shits and giggles'

The Middle East is nice
cost me a whole 8 quid to fill my car up this afternoon.
(, Thu 21 Feb 2008, 12:41, closed)
To clarify
We went to war and slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent people because it made some politicians more popular for a few months and lined the pockets of the companies they have interests in.. That's the only reason anyone has ever gone to war.

'just for shits and giggles'
What, like 'Nam?

Fumes....
It's this fucking government. Actually, the concept of an escalating tax on fuel of 2% above and beyond the level of inflation was the idea of the Tories in 1992 however, Grabber Brown thinks it's a wonderful idea as his hand is so deep in my pocket that the cunt is cradling my balls.

In the UK, £0.46 out of every £1.00 in the economy ends up back in the governments pocket thanks to taxes both direct and indirect. Repeat that statistic a few times before you vote next time.

Having written to MPs to register my extreme displeasure about fuel taxes, the stock response is "how many schools or hospitals would you like us to close?".

My reply "None, I just want you to cut feeding the £40bn a year QUANGO economy and sack some Outreach Coordinators" was not graced with a response.

As it stands, you pay £0.77 to the treasury each and every time you put a litre of fuel in your car. Again, repeat that over and over before you register your vote next time.

The fact that billions of ££££s every year are spunked keeping scumbags on the streets and in Kappa thanks to this moronic government taking an extended wank into the faces of the middle earning classes rankles me hugely.

Meanwhile, our soldiers are getting shot at in Iraq in the name of a war I bitterly opposed in 2003 while our fuel gets ever more expensive. Guy Fawkes, where are you now our country needs you?

Brits are just too afraid to revolt.
If anything happens in France there's a riot. Cars get burnt, sheeps get barbecued on the lorries and there's general anarchy until things get sorted out.

In the UK, we just bitch and moan and accept that the goverment delights in buggering us up the back passage financially.

Vote with your feet?
Pfft, fuck that: string 'em up!

It's the only language they understand
(, Thu 21 Feb 2008, 13:05, closed)
Exactly.
In France, the populace have been known to use the guillotine on unpopular politicians.

In Germany, a leader who's caused mayhem and misery at least has the decency to shoot himself

In the USA, every two decades or so someone might take a pot shot at a leader verging on becoming a liability.

In Japan, the inept head of government has been known to disembowel himself in shame.

Over here in the UK, we just vote the useless pricks in for another term...

i fear we have unleashed a dangerous brand of pseudo-anarchy on the b3ta messageboard.
to be honest,the government doesn't fuck with you that much,unless you're young,old,rich,poor, middle-class, disabled, homeless,a drug addict,a policeman,a civil servant,a nurse,polish,muslim, liberal,bohemian,artistic,or a graduate.
