This is a question "You're doing it wrong"

Chthonic confesses: "Only last year did I discover why the lids of things in tubes have a recessed pointy bit built into them." Tell us about the facepalm moment when you realised you were doing something wrong.

Be Three Ta do what you want
Only recently did I find out that b3ta is pronounced as beta, I've been calling it Be Three Ta :(

Even though I know it's wrong, you'll always be Be Three Ta to me, beta is a stranger!

Me too....
....although I've been saying it in my head 'Bee Three Tee Ay'.

That's how I generally refer to it as well.
I do sometimes refer to it as Beta, but more often than not I spell it out.

Ooops!
I thought it was Be Three Te Ae. Would never have guessed it was pronounced Beta. Wrong, but in a good way.

I'm still going to call it B. 3. T. A.
I know it should be b3ta - but 'It's' fixed now so there.

I've always called it B.3.T.A.
& always will. Not sure it matters.
(It's not as if it's correct apostrophe usage or anything).

I refuse to change. It will forever be "bee three tee ayyy"

(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 17:06, closed)
Me too
And once you know its beta, you have to say to people "oh I found it on this great site Beta... but spelt B3ta" ,so they can go look

No, "beta" describes the state of a product release; "bee three tee ayyy" describes why that release keeps being postponed.

I spell it out too.
I worked out what it meant about the time I started reading regularly but, as has been mentioned above, if you want to tell someone about it you have to spell it out anyway.
Besides, I'm not 31337.

I've been mispronouncing the mispronunciation :(
