Great.
Last night I had a random blue pixel on my laptop screen, I checked it today to find another one.

Will Currys give me my money back? If so I'll take this fucker back and get an amp
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:16, archived)
it depends on their dead pixel policy

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:16, archived)
oh, this too.
/Had a PSP with dead pixels and they wouldn't replace it after a week of buying it.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:22, archived)
Oh now that is just wank
How unfair, all that money for imperfection.

Well I'll have to clear all the porn off this.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:23, archived)
Then run recovery software
and see how easy it is to get it back.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:24, archived)
Is it easy to get all the porn back?

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:25, archived)
It's easy to get any deleted file back
unless it's overwritten.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:26, archived)
Oh fuck.
What am I meant to do!

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:27, archived)
Oh god yes
NOTHING is ever deleted properly unless as Rich says it is overwritten

Torrent for window washer give it a go, there is a trial version at webroot I think
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:26, archived)
Best thing to do is delete whatever it is
then defrag the drive then fill the remaining space with random crap, delete that then repeat.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:27, archived)
I have an illegal copy of this
I use it once a month just to keep everything tickitey boo.
I don't really have that much to hide but it's nice to keep it all clean and tidy

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:29, archived)
I found I could recover files from
a partition I had removed, repartitioned then reformatted. Hence the overwrite part is essential.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:30, archived)
I know how to defrag but... filling the space?
I use my PC for making music, pictures and the occasional hamshank. Would you just put stuff in the same folder?
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:32, archived)
Make a new folder on the drive
then copy everything you can into that folder until it's full.
Then delete the new folder and do it all again.
Even better is to create new files ie: get loads of mp3 files and use winamp or something to turn them into wavs into the new folder.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:33, archived)
Use this
www.sys-shield.com/fileshredder.htm
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:34, archived)
That's what I do
only manually.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:35, archived)
if you're really paranoid then get a good file shredder
PGP freeware is apparently good - though I tried installing a different one and just got bleedin' spyware
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:39, archived)
I'm not paranoid
but that doesn't mean they're not out to get me.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:41, archived)
hello dear!
how are you? also, what is that Saffa meaty jerky stuff you eat?

/sorry - this is Spangolin :)
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:25, archived)
Cock.

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:26, archived)
what sprinkles said.
oh, and biltong is the dried beef/game stuff.
Droewors are the small dried sausage things,
and they are both oh so moreish.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:27, archived)
I thought it was.
Me and Damion couldn't remember what it was called. Ta!
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:28, archived)
it's all of the tasty.
I don't know any places in Croydon, but there's
Southern Sun on Commercial Road (opposite Aldgate East station,
and The Bok Shop about a hundred yards from the Xmas bash pub.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:34, archived)
It's
because you're WEAK.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:25, archived)
You're just white and nerdy.
Christ, that song really is about you.
Aw.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:26, archived)
*ahem*
Declan, we've been through this before. You're the one who spends your Friday nights playing WoW.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:30, archived)

Friday nights waking moments.

I haven't logged into it since December 17th says my account stats, I haven't had a laptop since then.

HA! I'm recovering from Chronic Geek.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:31, archived)
I have that on mine
but it's 50-60 whole lines from the top to the bottom of the screen,
and it's in HP repair at the moment.

Maybe you can take it back if it's under warranty?
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:17, archived)
try and fix it first with wee and cotton wool

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:17, archived)

they never work

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:20, archived)
but it's fun trying.

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:21, archived)
it's not, it's just degrading and tiring
especially when you've a whole office to look after
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:23, archived)
when can't it be fun
if it involves masturbation and conserves?

EXPLAIN.

when you catch barbara from accounts rubbing herself over the laser printer you just fixed
fat barbara, the one who smells like cats and fabreeeze

+ cabbage
there's a woman at work who has the exact same malodorous tendencies.

She needs a good raping to get her back in line.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:30, archived)
Depends how "persuasive" you are.

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:17, archived)
How new is it?
They don't have to as dead pixels have to be a certain number before they are obliged. I took a monitor back to PC world and they were funny about it. I refused to leave til they gave me a new one. I sat on the floor and everything like a spoilt child
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:17, archived)
You're still there
Aren't you?
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:19, archived)
Did you get a new one, or have you just hijacked one of the computers next to you?

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:19, archived)
I'm still there
laughing at the cunts who work at PC World
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:20, archived)
They're there getting paid though.

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:21, archived)
yeah
minimum wage proabably
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:24, archived)
Lucky bastards.

(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:25, archived)
Well at the rate this is going
I'll have plently of them by next week
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:20, archived)
If you bought
it less than 6 months ago, take it back, get a refund.

Don't let them fob you off, they're required to give your money back.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:21, archived)
I bought it on Thursday
Hence why I'm so pissed off that I already have two of them merging so soon.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:22, archived)
In that case,
it's presumed to have been defective on delivery (unless they can prove otherwise, which they can't).
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:24, archived)
I like your thinking!
I shall take it back tomorrow then. What a let down, I'd prefer an amp anyway.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:26, archived)
I got the cheapest 19" lcd monitor I could find last Christmas
made by LG and it's been absolutely perfect. Cheap is good.
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:21, archived)
They should do
www.b3ta.com/talk/2369421

Basically if it's not fit for purpose (i.e. there's something wrong with it that isn't your fault), they have to give you a refund

Yay! Good deed for day done already and it's not even 1:30
(, Sun 7 Jan 2007, 13:25, archived)
Generally
you just mention the Sale of Goods Act and they open the till.
