FOOTBALL.
It's an official JMG football thread.
Now don't start farting on about how you all dislike it. Embrace the national game, I say.

How is your football?
Feel free to discuss Michael Owen's winner, tonight.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:49, archived)
Why is it the national game?
Because of clever marketing.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:49, archived)
I don't get it.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:50, archived)
I got that in a cracker one year :(

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
There wasn't as much marketing the 100 years previous when it was also the national game.
:(
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
I reckon he had fish fingers, chips and peas.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:49, archived)
No, that's Michael Winner's dinner.
You'll be able to read all about it in the Sunday Times.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
I love football.
We're not going to win anything this season though, I don't reckon.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:50, archived)
Who's your "we"?

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
Arsenal, innit.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
About the one team I enjoy watching besides my own.
Good work.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
What's your team?

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:55, archived)
I also enjoy watching a bit of Arsenal in Europe.
Now don't get me wrong, I myself have shouted "FUCK OFF DIMMICK" at Ray Parlour on countless occasions over the years, but I respect the football they play.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:58, archived)
Bring on next weekend, I say.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:58, archived)
The Red Devils I'm afraid.
No glory hunter mind you, blame it on me Mum.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:59, archived)
Who's 'we' in this case?

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
Yes. Arsenal need to bulk up that midfield.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
the national game is cricket, tragically
I suspect this decision was made somewhere south of Watford
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:50, archived)
Can't we have two national games?
Why can't you just share?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
it'd be easier all round if everyone just admitted they love football

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
I personally find it rather tedious,
and unappealingly competitive. But I can't really recommend anything much better. I've got a soft spot for crown green bowls, but it's hardly national sport material.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
"sport" in "competitive" shicker

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
yeah, fic that yourself

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
Mehhhhh spacko fingers

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:55, archived)
yeah,
it's why I don't like any sports all that much really.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:55, archived)
Does Scotland have a national game?
Is it curling or fighting?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
dunno,
people here are quite into Rugby.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
Nah, we're shit at that
Is dancing over swords a sport?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:55, archived)
Why?
Cos you northerners are shit at it?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
yeah, we didn't manage the treble last season
SADFACE :(((((((((((((
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
Steady on.
A Geordie is our best bowler.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
P.S.
It's not me.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
Monty Panesar plays (ed?)
for the mighty Steelbacks
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
I thought Yorkshire pwned the others
and men used to make their pregnant women travel for miles and miles so that they could be born in Yorkshire, and play for the greatest team on earth?

Or have I got it wrong? I'm not a cricket fan, so I don't know.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
I've never seen cricket in spain

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
It's SSG's fault.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
Was this decision made between 1991 and 1997?

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
2 goals in as many games?
Good going for him, hopefully he can translate that form for England.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
Arsenal at the weekend.
We're either awesome or tragically poor at Arsenal.
We've won there a few times in the Premiership. We'll see how we fair, but I'm not giving much hope.

Despite our awesome Argies.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
Yeah Geordie Ben (former housemate) has said pretty much the same to me.
Should be a good game.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:59, archived)
he certainly won, and winning is all that matters in this sport of michael owen

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:51, archived)
EXCELLENT remark.
I'm having you on JMGTV's football debate panel.

It's basically football debate whilst Baldmonkey fires a shotgun into the air every three seconds.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
that should be behind all of tv
especially cancer hospice documentaries
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:00, archived)
I love football, me.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:52, archived)
what coloured shirts do you support?

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
Football.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
I agree, they are at the top of their game of football

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
if football is a game of two halves then this has certainly been.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:56, archived)
I'm not sure that you properly understand football.

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:57, archived)
I hate people who fake their way through conversations of the ball

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:59, archived)
those who can, ball

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:00, archived)
in football you must foot the ball goalwards never failing to neglect your comrades in appropriate ball orientated behaviour the winner is whoever bedazzles the opposing footwarriors with their high flying celebrationns

(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:59, archived)
And that football player of theirs is brilliant.
You should see him kicking the football with his foot.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:57, archived)
Michael Owen strikes me as the sort of boy you could take home to meet your mum.
And by that I don't mean to imply that you live with your mum. Or that she's bald.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:53, archived)
When he first started being famous I asked my mum if I could marry him and she said yes.

I've decided that JMG is bald and Mum without caring much for facts or the truth.
Also. Gay.

The internet is no place for facts or the truth.
I'm told.

MICHAEL OWEN'S WINNER WAS BOLLOCKS.
Mifsud was fowled further up the park.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:54, archived)
BALLS.
THE BULL fended him off with a bit of strength.

..Any contentious decision is only fair considering the three weeks he added at the end of 90 minutes!
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:56, archived)
You had 13 players.
Both the referee and Marcus Hall did their best to help you win.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 22:58, archived)
That linesman flagged Ron Geremi offside a good three or four times when he was on.
I've never seen this referee before. We usually get ropey calls from Championship officials in the cup.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:01, archived)
I concur the linesman was shit.
But it was Marcus Hall playing everyone onside every fucking time. Most notably for the Owen goal. That should have been because Mifsud was fouled.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:02, archived)
a chicken attacked him?

start of the season. I am maximum happy.

We once won 11 on the bounce at the start of a season.
Ha! Won at Sunderland, too.
The knuckle dragging whores.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:03, archived)
Sunderland I've never been to.
I've heard it's worse than Boro, but I can't believe that.
(, Tue 26 Aug 2008, 23:04, archived)
no, it's not.
It used to be, back in the day.
