S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky.
Good game. Scary as hell, still fun.

On what machine is it played?

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:29, archived)
By 'machine', do you mean 'console'?
Just on PC
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:31, archived)
I meant console, PC, Mac, ZX81, whatever.

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:34, archived)
PC
and steam powered differencing engine
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:32, archived)
have you played Shadow of Chernobyl?

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:39, archived)
I have yes.
Brilliant stuff
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:42, archived)
ah, right
if you hadn't i was going to tell you not to bother with clear sky and just play that instead
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:44, archived)
easily my most favourite game

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:42, archived)
Yep
I can recommend the Oblivion Lost and Complete 2009 mods.
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:51, archived)
What is it?

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:55, archived)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
first person atmosphere/exploration game
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:58, archived)
tell me more

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:59, archived)
it's kind of like if they made the book 'roadside picnic' into a game
only set it in russia and included a hell of a lot more guns
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:03, archived)
Frontier on legs
or obilvion with guns, and full stop the most atmospheric game I've played.
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:03, archived)
morrowind with guns more like
since it's got the similar level of odd design choices and bug content
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:05, archived)
Is it better than Fallout 3?

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:06, archived)
You decide

Really recommended.
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:08, archived)
I've yet to play that
but it's quite different I think.
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:10, archived)
it doesn't have any of the RPG elements that Fallout has
and it's considerably more difficult but probably yes
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 16:11, archived)
Really?
I got bored after about an hour (I'd gone through a tunnel and got radiated and was after something which I forget). I restarted the game twice as at one point I got stuck.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R hates my laptop :(

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:48, archived)
'laptop'
'videogames'

i think i might be able to see the problem here
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:49, archived)
It runs everything else fine
I believe it is a video drivers complication of which I have never been fully bothered to investigate properly.
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:50, archived)
when i got it on release there was a setting you had to disable in order to get it to work
i can't remember what it was though and it's probably been patched by now anyway
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:51, archived)
I'll have a look at it in a bit

(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:56, archived)
have you tried Omega drivers?
they fixed my laptop up from being completely games useless to acceptable
(, Sun 5 Jul 2009, 15:58, archived)
Stalker as the potential to be a great game
but for some reason, it just doesn't quite get there. I don't know what it is, but I just end up being frustrated by it. The battles are way too difficult and there's too much time between them, but I think there is something else that makes me give up.
