can we use this thread to discuss how great it is that inflation is below 2%
i had my doubts about osborne but he's really pulled through

personally I'd be targetting 4%, maybe even 5% in the short term,
2% is woefully low in any circumstances, that they targetted that is unfathomable, and that it has dropped to 1.9% distinctly worrying, especially with Chinese economic indicators and the looming Australian housing bubble.

wages tend to increase along with inflation if the economy is healthy,
so moderate inflation doesn't make anyone any worse off. It affects savings, but it also affects debts, it helps to pay off people's mortgages because it offsets the interest charged on them.

Inflation that is too low results in a sluggish economy, because people are not in a hurry to buy things before the price goes up.
