Capt Sensible Through the Keyhole from 1983 (probs about the time of Happy Talk?)
I was looking for live versions of that British Late Psychedelic classic 'The Universe of Geoffrey Brown' and stumbled across.

There's also a weird Grauniad video of him on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway. He's a 'train enthusiast' as we must call them in these politically etc etc.
Beginning to think he's on the spectrum.

Inevitably, they published it anyway. Someone suggested I change my username. Not sure how long it'll be up there for.

Instead Of Brexit
I made this!
The other day I read about the £66 billion they now think we will have to pay to the EU to leave, and I wondered what else you might be able to do with that kind of $$$ so I tried dividing it by the 22k starting salary of a nurse.
You get nearly 3 million. 3 million nurse-years, or if you prefer 2,982 nurses for 100 years.
Equaling this insanity - it is about 13 billion pints of beer. Or enough to buy every working person a burrito for lunch every day for a year.
Anyway, I decided to make a website to show just what a lot of other more interesting, generous or fun stuff you can do with £66 billion instead of Brexit.
Please share the insanity that is now somehow reality, and if you have any other ideas for the £66 billion, let me know and I'll add them.

Great.
Somewhat ruined by inconvenient facts like that the average nurse is paid well over 22k. Some nurses are paid up to 40k according to today's Sunday Times. As for the 1% pay rise cap, that overlooks the fact that every year a nurse can rise up the pay scale, and typically can expect a pay rise of 4% per annum. Some can achieve as much as 7% in a year. I'd rather have more doctors anyway.

All the math is on there to check. it's based on the starting salary of a nurse. Even if it was the average salary I think it's still going to a 2 million nurse-hours!

Fair enough, but it's still misleading.
In the same way the £350 million Brexit bus claim wasn't untrue, but it was a gross figure, not a net figure. So not actually a lie, but not really the truth either. Much like your claim. Anyway, we'd benefit much more from more doctors. But this country has long sentimentalised the role of nurses since Florence Nightingale. Or Mary Seacole, if you prefer.

You need to add
the other costs for employment (overheads, training, etc.). Page 188 of this document: www.pssru.ac.uk/project-pages/unit-costs/2016/index.php helpfully adds those up for you. It suggests that a Band 6 (which would probably reflect an average grade) hospital-based nurse would cost the NHS around £50,000 per year. If they're based in London, it will be around 50% more.

But it's about five years worth of payments to the EU (after our rebate) and would almost certainly be payable in installments.
Also bear in mind that after this we have to pay them nothing, so in the long term we really do benefit.

Define trade. Numbers/units etc. Sources.
Ireland needs the UK more than the EU in terms of trade. Also, why propagate the myth that such trade will cease when we leave a economic bloc. No one buys goods or services on the basis of origin (AOC type stuff excluded). They buy it because they want it.

The EU has trade restrictions...
...so the reason we trade more with Ireland than, say, China is because we are required to. Open up the market and we will trade how we used to with who we want to and businesses around the world will be able to do the same. In other words proper free trade. That includes European countries whose companies will still want to do business with the UK whether part of the EU or not.

Well that's assuming we pay them 66 billion.
First off that figure is a guess based on the assumption that the EU is going to make up a huge figure in order to punish us for leaving to scare other into staying.
That would be dangerous and very petty of them.
Can't say that I would be campaigning to stay in a union with a group that behaves like that.
I would be tempted to believe they may try because I think they are complete cunts.
For example see they are holding up a deal on eu citizens in the UK by insisting they have more rights than UK citizens.
We would however have to agree to pay of course. If they try anything like that I say fuck em and walk away.

well nobody knows how much it'll be, the devil's in the detail...but
the UK is not going to pay any more than it has committed to - that'll be ensured by David "British bulldog" Davis.
The EU budget works in a 7 year cycle (known as the multiannual financial framework) so depending where we are with this will determine how much we have to pay. However if we've legally committed to x for the lifetime of whatever portfolio of capital projects x is we will have to pay (or risk stalling the "negotiation") - either way the EU wins.
You can't order a takeaway then when the delivery boy turns up just go "nah you're alright mate". Unless you're happy with never getting takeaway from that place again.

The EU's argument is that we need to pay this money because we have already committed ourselves to squandering it on EU bullshit. We don't get to keep the money if we stay!

Physio from Thursdays session
I made this!
had a change from the bars and used the zimmer frame to go for a short walk.
Felt a bit unsteady on it, though made good progress and was nice to get out of the physio room even if it was just into the corridor.

I'm sorry no one else has replied to this yet.
I'm sure everyone is pleased that you are walking about and that though. It's just been a busy day for good links, that's all. Any other day and this would have got replies. Gaurenteed.
The video shows you making good physical recovery and hopefully the fact that you are posting to a purile comedy website means your mental health is on the right track too. Judging by the audio, it sounds like your wife is sticking with you, so that must help. I just hope for both of your sakes that you can still achieve and maintain an errection. Good luck and keep your pecker up.

It's alright Pixie dick you don't need to appologise
Although it is interesting that you feel the need to express your self like that. As far as erections go I doubt that they will ever on the same scale as yours although you do have me at a disadvantage seeing as I only have a normal one whereas what with you being a complete knob I can't compete with you on size.
Oh well back to the Monday routine and just remember kido your very special. 😃

Good work FBK!
The clkkkk-clunk-creak of the zimmer and leg brace would make good audio for a horror film. Might have to be set in a bungalow for the time being.
Yay for physios!

Text adventure: The Bony King of Nowhere
I made this!
Now ported to Glux, Z-Machine and offline browser version. Text adventure in the classic parser style, with puns galore.

Yeah, I'd say try and finish it.
I really liked it, and there is some serious character development still to come.
I'm also just totally in love with the metaphor of the piano playing itself. Fucking genius.

I did like instantly recognizing their rendition of Black Hole Sun
There was another great cover song during a fight scene too. Only really stopped as my Mrs for bored of it. Might carry on soon, although I'm working through Rick and Morty, and Always Sunny, and the new GoT. Not enough hours in the day :o(

There was a so-so cover of Paint It, Black. That was probably it.
Soundtrack-wise, my favourite was the cover of Motion Picture Soundtrack. Beautifully matched the sadness mixed with awe of meeting one's creator and finding them lacking.
I'd finish watching it if I were you; there weren't that many episodes in the series. It's a little pompous at times, and all that mystery made them need to do a clumsy info dump at the end but the show does give you a lot of food for thought, which is something you don't often see in contemporary sci-fi.

nice tank size but needs more fish and external filtration
those internal boxes ruin the look of a tank.
if you have never had an aqaurium before, you dont know how much these things make you relax, yes they can be on the exspensive side to get going if you decide on a new tank.
However a soething like a fluval vincenza with external filtration and cabinate can be had on the bay for not a lot and usualy come with extras.
bow front tanks have a bigger impact on the look rather than the regular rectangle shape.
Food and water treatments can be exspensive to buy but last for a long time and as for heating the water i didnt notice any uplift in my electric bills with a 240 liter tank.

I liked Stranger Things before it got popular.
And now I don't.
There's an irritating trend at the moment where kids born in the 90's/early 2000's seem to be obsessed with 80's pop culture references as if they're channeling some past-life 40 something.
Culturally, I loved the 80's. Even the really, really shit music, television and film had a certain charm about it. What I don't love is 20-somethings reminiscing on Cuntbook about how 'legit' Stranger Things is or how nostalgic it makes them feel, regardless of the fact that they weren't even alive in that decade.
I know that I shouldn't allow my hatred for these idiot children to dampen my enjoyment of what is an undoubtedly excellent television series. But it does, because I'm a grumpy cunt.
And personally, I think Mr. Robot did a far superior job with it's 80's pop culture references. It's also a much better television series, and mercifully under the radar for now.

Don't let the youth of today get you down
Know that you will always be morally and intellectually superior, and when you get older, you can get your own back on their lust for life by knifing their footballs when they come into your garden, and have them clean you up after you've soiled yourself in the old people's home.

I enjoy listening to Colin Young's mix of 70s funk and disco.
But I should probably stop, since I'm not old enough to remember it properly the first time round, therefore am only capable of appreciating it in a really superficial, context-free kind of way.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying music/film from an era you weren't around for.
The problem is with identifying with it like you were there the first time and getting all nostalgic about shit you never experienced first hand. Nobody that had to put up with cassette tapes actually wants cassette tapes back. They were shit.

The ones who define popular culture for kids now grew up in the 80s.
If they will keep banging on about how great that decade was, how nothing of note has been invented since, and remaking and rebooting cartoon and toy franchises over and over, hardly surprising that the Young Uns start to buy into it all.

A lot of deaths on the nu metal scene already however. Drowning Pool, American Head Charge, Snot, etc. Probably loads I'm not aware of too. It would be great if the deadpool would take those more-deserving - case in point: Bono.
