# Making more people use comaprethemarket.com?
I bet that they are all made up companies that were simply created by comparethemarket.com to make Aleksandr seem even more awesome.

# The meerkat ads are beginning to get on my tits.
They've not got any new ideas so are shoving shit ones onto our screens.

They're no longer clever. They're a bit tragic

# Really?
I love the Mongoose war one, and judging by the website, they have plenty of characters to come.

# It's becoming more like a TV series
with ever more tenuous links to car insurance.

# As a resident in the US
this concept is all too familiar to me.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 12:31, archived)
# I think it works though.
At the end of the day, how interesting can you actually make the process of buying car insurance? And at least there isn't a moron going, Oooooh! I'm so CONFUSED.com, or a bunch of morons webcamming their search for car insurance.

but they get it wrong far more often than they get it right.

# I think they are missing a trick by not sponsoring all meerkat enclosures
in all the zoos and wildlife parks in the country though. Every single one I have seen since those adverts has had people doing the meerkat voice while looking at them

# Good point.
My nephew's first word was meerkat when Aleksandr came up on the TV screen. :D

"Simples!"

# Although, I have heard some people
say that they hate them. Weird.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 12:27, archived)
# I hate them because...
every insurance company now wants a 'wacky' character like the meercats.

Where's elephant.co.uk when you need him?

# Pathologically not funny.
On all the bleeding time.
Selling a pointless and deeply flawed service, to find a product that you are legally required to have but is unethically overpriced because of the people that flout the law, and then offers you little to no recompense when you actually have to make a claim, due to the non-negotiable layers of beaurocracy and personal excess they include.

Insurance companies and Marketing gurus would be the first up against the wall, come my revolution.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 12:50, archived)
# Weird.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 12:55, archived)
# I agree in principle but comparethemarket.com
is about sorting through insurance comapnies to find the "cheapest" quote albeit that all insurance companies are expensive, overpriced and extortionate. So I think your anger is directed at the wrong source.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 13:04, archived)
# ah but
not all insurance companies are on there (Direct Line/Aviva for example), plus comparethemarket get a cut from each company when someone uses them so you're actually not getting the best deal. You still have to shop around to be sure. So their service is fundamentally flawed and pointless.
(, Wed 14 Apr 2010, 14:09, archived)
# Annoyance factor 10 thereby their stupid advert does stick in people's heads
but will that endear people to actually use their services or just hate them even more?
