Spent some time separating a compound mixture for someone at work so I could take photos of it for a paper. Did all the shoppery and everything and was very happy. Then, an hour later, he decides I can't use it.
Then, the conference I really wanted to go on - a really important one for making contacts in my field and one I had agreed with my supervisor before starting here - I've been told I can't go as I haven't made anything interesting enough in the last few months to warrant a poster presentation. Then, I find out that it's also partly funding. However, I looked at the conference site today and lo-and-fucking-behold, my supervisor's on there as a keynote speaker.

Gay.
But let's just say that the two phases are insoluble in everything unless you destroy them. Bit of a speciality of mine, separating awkward mixtures. Should be a paper out in Dalton in the next few months on it.

I hadn't heard of Dalton. Guess I don't read enough chemistry journals :)
