# Saw the cover of the RT and this happened...

# I'm glad there's some new, young blood getting science groovy. It needs to happen.
Our chemistry teacher at school on the open day set up the lab, dropped the lights, and swept in in the darkness, and proceeded to blow shit up, make stuff go BANG, WHIZZ, and SWOOSH until every single kid watching wanted to be a chemist when they grew up.

Fucker didn't tell us about the Periodic Table, Elemental covalencies or solution preparation until we'd signed up, though.

His enthusiasm for the subject makes him highly watchable.

He does quite a lot on Radio 4 too.

# in an early science lesson our teacher hid a glass tube inside the flow from a running tap
...when we went in it was already running so no one knew....then he tells us about "hard" and "soft" water......taps the "flow" with a metal rod and says this is hard water.....we couldn't believe it!...I was 11 then :D

# We never did anything interesting in science all the way through school
it was always "the boiling point of water" experiment through middle school, then high school was almost 100% paper based theory

I think you have to be quite lucky to get a good teacher
