You know in "Hi-de-Hi!", Peggy the maid was constantly living in fear of her superior, Miss Cathcart?

What if Peggy IS Miss Cathcart... Either Peggy is a fragment of Miss Cathcart's subconscious, the weak, meek underling that Miss Cathcart once was, a personality that she overcame due to some incident in her past but which still lives on alongside her fearsome persona. The aspiring entertainer and subservient fool that dwells within, dreams crushed and replaced by a desire to inflict misery upon underlings.
Or perhaps Miss Cathcart is fictitious, an unseen bogiewoman, representing some figure from Peggy's past, a memory that can never be overcome and manifests as a constant fear.

What a twist!
