Remind me to pick something without wire wheels next time!

Always wanted one of those, but lack the necessary ten grand to get one that doesn't require a lot of work.

MGBGT, (not convertible, admittedly) for under 5 grand, and Road Tax exempt, too.

But it must have wire wheels and chrome bumpers. Sod the pedestrians, it looks so good.

I'm going to be trawling Auto-Trader for the rest of the afternoon!

I did own a 1965 Triumph Herald 1200 in RAF blue. Needed a shed-load of work (new chassis was the main thing, but easy enough on a Triumph), but the engine was spotless and ran almost silently. I did a bit of work on it and was looking at learning to drive, but had to sell it when Imoved to Switzerland.

I love Heralds, too. Really fun cars. A friend at school had a black Vitesse - my god that car could shift!

Have a *click* for your labours; hardly seems enough, frankly.

About three/four hours work on a lazy Sunday, half of which was the radiator and wheels. I feel quite pleased with how it's turned out.

If you get wildly bored, how about one of these?

tho' you can leave off the idiotic US mandated side marker lights...

At least it didn't suffer the ignomy of the plastic bumpers...

Chrome Bumpers and wire wheels (might stretch to minilites) every time.

No plastic bumpers, and with round rear wheel arches, 1275 twin carbs as God and BMC intended. I've had it for 20+ years...never done much with it cosmetically but keep it tight mechanically. Took off the front bumper as it was mashed in a bit; kept the rears on.

One day, one day. If I get this job I'm going for, we should be able to afford a car and learn how to drive. Then, it might be time to see what practical classic cars are about (ones that can fit kids' booster seats...)

Nice tonneau, too.

The tonneau was custom made out of specialty boat canvas...keeps water out better than the stock design. Now it mostly keeps out bird poo as the car has been in a garage or carport for the past 15 years. It does have a hood/convertible top but I might use it once or twice a year. The exhaust is just plain robust and rorty, not the polite twin silencer as stock. Sounds like a British sports car should sound.
