tis a good choice,
but "where the wild things are" and "in the night kitchen" are the way to go.

I'll remmeber them then
on a vaguely related note, I've tried to start readin Lord Of The Rings, but the prologue just bored me so much i gave up before starting properly

Stick with it.
Book one drags on and on and has far too many songs (skip the Tom Bombadil chapter-pointless) but it gets going for books 2 and 3. In fact, just watch the film for the first book and start at book two...

I want to read them all
so I can argue with my friend who things they're the best thing since sliced bread. I get the feelin gthey're gona be kinda slow, and after reading His Dark Materials which went along at quite a fast pace, it seems really dull

It's a bit long winded...
...to cut a long story short Golum throws himself into the fire in the mountain at the end with the ring and destroys it.
