# argh!
i *hate* comis sans. am seriously considering uninstalling it. but writing a CV in it? that's just stupidity. also considering uninstalling times new roman, incidentally.

# silkscreen is lovely
from www.kottke.org

dare i ask what the position applied for was? please don't say "web developer"
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:22, archived)
# bloody well hope it wasn't a
Web developer..

god the wankers that use that title when all they do is write the copy on the page.. I've heard the fuckwits call themselves web designers before as well.

Fucknuts.

# ahem
I am a Web Developer. You got a problem with that? I didn't choose the title you know.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:30, archived)
# don't have a problem
as long as you have actually written some html or have actually designed a layout.

if you still call yourself a web developer and all you have done is written copy (in word) you can go get some hummus and come back
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:38, archived)
# oooh get you
I've written more HTML and designed more websites than you've had hot handbags my lad. Not to mention kittens.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:41, archived)
# fair enuff
you are full justified my dear sir

(not the only hmtl coder mr friend i taught web design for a year m8... and not using a package.. pure hand coding...)

I just hate the twats who are copy writers who claim to be web developers as some of their text was on a web page..

# Web programmer is another
that amuses me - some seem to count HTML as a language.
Web Programmer = guys like the Apache guys as far as I am concerned.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:32, archived)
# I thought it
was a language, or am I being spoons again.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:36, archived)
# it is a language
but a markup language, not a programming language. you're not being spoons.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:39, archived)
# it's a
markup language, not a programming language...

# Nope
HTML is content with some formatting information (ie. a document), in the same that a Word or PDF file is a document.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:42, archived)
# I
managed to get my job title changed to Senior Developer from Web Developer... too pigeonholed for my liking. And yes, HTML is a language of sorts. Though not in the programming sense....
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:47, archived)
# it was
an unsolicited CV for a senior managerial position of some sort.

# mail him back, ask him if he has pointy hair
=)

# senoir management
and he did it in comic sans?

get him in for an interveiw and then laugh at him for the entire meeting and they say sorry, you are not what we are looking for.

# was the
entire CV done as a comic? that would be great...
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:24, archived)
# I considered writing
an "honest CV" part of my website (explaining how I have spent most of my life sitting on my arse doing nothing and sometimes getting paid for it.) Then I remembered prospective employers might actually look at my website.
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 14:26, archived)
# No, but
The best CV I received from a designer was done as a packet of washing powder.

Very nice it was, too...

# My favourite CV feature?
Under 'software skills':
Internet Explorer version 4, 5 *and* 6

always impresses me...

# Send it back
"That was funny!"
My boss has a crippling deficiency which makes him use 'that' font on everything.

# I thought everyone knew
CV's were to be done in 48pt Impact Bold.

Fire up the Linotype dad, I got a CV coming!

# Amen!
I worked for a company where everyone used Comic (bloody) Sans on their presentations... I insisted on using Verdana just as a protest.
