# tis grand that
but you should avoid frames; they`re all the nasty - with a CSS2 compliant web browser, you can have the fixed navigation areas and so on doing it the nice way (as far as I remember IE doesn`t support fixed positioning, so it`ll scroll)

maybe change the hyperlink colours and style the fonts to a sans serif?

much better than the web sites I`ve done :)
(, Thu 13 Oct 2005, 9:01, archived)
# actually, i use IE
they work ok for me...
(, Thu 13 Oct 2005, 9:03, archived)
# not only that
but they are a pain in the arse to get google to index properly. Nice boring plain static pages are easier to maintain and google won't send your customers to your navigation bar or whatever. Unless you faff around with Javascript redirections and shit and it gets really messy.

# the about section borks.

and why use frames anyway??
(, Thu 13 Oct 2005, 9:02, archived)
# oops...
meant to fix that. thankee.

umm...i hate it when the navigation buttons reload?

# It's okay but
I'd get more contrast between the text and background, also, the upper frame could be a lot smaller (mind the low res users), or even no frame at all (just a scrolling layer for the lower part)
(, Thu 13 Oct 2005, 9:09, archived)
# also
you should really try for the page not to scroll, especially on the homepage. There is no need for it, as there is only very little information on it. It even scrolls here on my 1152X864 screen.

people find centered text more difficult to read then texts which are aligned to the left

# haven`t been too well
It`s my week off work too; I had stuff planned to do, but have spent my time mainly lying on the sofa watching the most awful television ever.

The people who haven`t passed their driving test programme is on at the minute, and after that is the hospital one where they show you the doctors drilling into spicy brains. The BBC seems to excel in dreadful telly these days - there was a thing on last week or the week before where a family let a burglar into their house to see how secure their house is. He runs about throwing things about and going through their private stuff. Is this what ratings are about? Maybe I`ll go back to bed!

# as a smelly salesperson
my professional advice would be to put Products as the first choice, followed by Order, then Contact, and use the Jabon logo as the home button (which seems to go to the same page as About anyway).

Couple of important points - you should stress that customers should not send Credit Card details by email, it's about as secure as a very unsecure thing.

In the absence of a full-on online shopping trolley, you could give the customer an order form (word document or pdf - or even simple HTML tables, but that's harder to guarantee that it'll print out properly) that they can fill out with the relevant information and fax back to the company.

Something like this -
www.jbinternational.co.uk/enrolmentform.html

Ugly, but functional. And it gives you a legal document proving that the customer has agreed to purchase your product (always get a signature of'em).
