I've had a go myself. Here's the original, moody b&w shot:

and here's the updated version that I coloured in. Virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, I thought:

it is worth learning how to do it yourself with CMYK levels though -
it's tricky but looks far more realistic. you don't get the extremly high contrast and saturation that you do here... apparently

It didn't occur to me how much that looked like Paint, actually...

How did you do that? It's like you've laid one image over the top of the other and then reduced the opacity or something...
