They make the shittest lift ever.
We've got them at work and they're bloody dangerous and never call at the floor you want as well as having no memory of who's pressed what button.
They're about as good as his bloody howitzer shells...

does anyone know about musical instruments and stuff?
is there a product you can buy that means you can play your drums at a quieter volume?
some kind of cover perhaps?

I've heard of drummers putting towels, foam or sponges in the bass drums, to make it sounds less harsh

that is a good plan... one can also loosen the bass pedal a bit so the mallet doesnt strike as hard.

and I've also said 'make pads for the rest of the drums out of thick felt'.

Dense rubber pads in various sizes that go over the skins.
Doesn't do anything for the cymbals and adversely affects the responsiveness of the drums. Not very nice to use, but would do the job.
EDIT: 'Practice Pads' is probably the more commonly used term.
