# I am playing with the trial version
of Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac.

...but there seems to be a bit of a bug stopping me adjusting the frame delay in the animation. Maybe I will just buy the full version instead.

then there is nothing stopping an unscrupulous person from nabbing your real username before you can switch back.

it has been added as a recent code tweak to the board.

Provided a user-name is not currently in use, there is nothing to stop anybody using it. Regardless of who signed up with it. As far as I know.

# Since I bought my new Mac
I have resisted installing hooky software on it, therefore I have yet to choose which image manipulating software to buy.

Elements is not bad, but I get the feeling I might splash out and buy Photoshop. I have used it for so many years now, everything else feels a little alien.

At least I qualify for the educational price, which is only a fraction of the full commercial price.

to be in perfect working order.

Besides, people shouldn't feel so guilty about cracked software. For instance, apple released their latest version of Logic without a dongle... which previously had never been cracked, now you only need a serial and it was understandably cracked the day after release!

Why?

IMHO its because they recognise that they will lose a small percentage of sales in the short run, but gain loads more in the long run... ala flash, reason, PHOTOSHOP, etc.

In video game business model terms this is called "free to play", where they release the actual product for free with the knowledge that a small percentage, of a now large user base, will buy it and/or any peripherals.

Anyway, I'm pissed... you may ignore everything i said with my blessings.

# I have no guilt in using cracked software for personal use
but this laptop will be used professionally, making me more concerned about running anything dodgy.

Not that I use photoshop for anything professional, but I would rather everything on this machine was squeaky clean just in case.
