# i've already looked into moving to canada
lots of red tape!
edit : does the queen still own it? or did she give it back like every other useful thing she ever owned?
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:08, archived)
# no canada is still british
apart from the french bit, but that's crap anyway.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:11, archived)
# Like I'd move to the French bit.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:12, archived)
# Why not?
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:13, archived)
# My French isn't as good as it used to be
plus I have found the vast majority of French people that I've met to be incredibly rude. Whereas I can just about deal with it occasionally, to live within it constantly would be a chore with only one inevitable consequence- I would at some point get very angry, have a right go at everyone and then they'd be French AND in a mood.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:15, archived)
# what are they gonna do?
they'll just shrug then surrender

then sit outside of a cafe, smoking a cigar, reading provocative literature, tutting to themselves into the hours of darkness, as the rain begins to fall.

While a poor bandoneon player emits a lament of hate, in the distance.

Next week, I'll talk about Germany, be prepared for huge pots containing brown fluid and sausage and large chaps in incomprehensible trousers

# The older I get the more I love the French...
in a similar way to how I find I actually like Prince Phillip more and more the older I get (and the more I meet him)

# I'm sure they're lovely
I just have had the misfortune to meet the completely wanky ones.

with people from Dublin.

# Durty Dubbers...
I have a similar feeling about the Northern Irish, some of my best friends are Norn Oirish, as are some of the people I despise most in the world (who I've met)...

# The probable conclusion is
Some people from some places suck, other people from those places are nice.

SCIENCE!

# you've met phil the greek
who appears not be greek at all.
i saw that thing on telly the other week i really wanted him to let loose a bit more, i think he's a great old fella, not that i really know him of course but i like characters like him.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:23, archived)
# I say 'met'
he's Chancellor of the University an I've been at a few of the same things as him and been introduced to him once... and not for very long (*is lowly*)

despite my mother staunch republicanism, I thought he was an exceedingly rum sort and has a very very sharp sense of humour.

# I was thinking more of moving to Germany myself, for no other reason that I speak German and would probably find German people less annoying.
I don't quote unquote think there is anything happening to this country, civilisation is in constant flux and change and anyone who thinks that there is some set value of Englishness is just kidding themselves. Change makes fools of us all.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:21, archived)
# hmm germany...
hmm *rubs chin*

# I would move to Germany
but I don't think it'd be the best of ideas. I would become fat with schnitzel, frikadellen and beer.

# I don't drink and dislike german sausages, so that works out fairly well for me.
I'm only going to buy a house with a basement and turn it into a underground complex of evil anyway, land is just cheaper in Germany.

(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:39, archived)
# Yeah, right. Like you laugh.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:40, archived)
# I do laugh.
Sometimes even at jokes instead of other people's suffering.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:41, archived)
# Are you confusing laughing with sneering?
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:43, archived)
# I don't think so.
Laughing is where you open your mouth and emit a fluctuating vowel sound, whereas sneering is just where you have a long nose and are made out of pink felt.

# Canada is ace.
I have family there and so very nearly moved there a couple of times ( as did my father. I might have moved as a 15 year old and never met you )

I have had 3 month stints in London, Toronto and Sarnia.

The French bit is foul.

(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:20, archived)
# Do they have French toilets in the French bit?
That's another reason for me not to move there if they do.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:25, archived)
# French toilets?
oh, you mean trees and lampposts.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:25, archived)
# I mean the holes in the floor.
Like the ones I had to use in fucking India.

(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:27, archived)
# No it's quite civilised
except they talk like they have a mouth full of dirt.

I've done a fair bit of squatting over holes in Greece. It's not good.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:29, archived)
# It's bloody not.
I have painful knees as it is. And the unfortunate problem of being able to get into a crouching position perfectly fine, but being totally unable to straighten myself back up from there though. I have to have help.

and....well, no. Just...no.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:30, archived)
# No, I mean that
Vancouver and Quebec is quite civilised. Squatting over a metal pan is not, especially when they have places to put your feet. I can't begin to think of all the unwashed, before me, pissing on their feet.
(, Wed 28 May 2008, 17:34, archived)
# I knew what you meant, toots.
Toilets should only get MORE comfy as you travel the world, not less.

# I realised after I typed
that I had not followed the syntax of our discourse. That's because I'm a bit pissed now. Time to open photoshop and order chinese ( not through photoshop, don't try that ).

Although soon I shall go home and get stoned. For a change.
