ouch!
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 21:54, archived)
# hahahahaha!
also glad i'm not the only one that thought they looked like a botty hole.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 21:56, archived)
# Hahaha
Did anyone else notice Catherine's character was completely written out of any possible future appearances with all of that 'She'll burn up nonsense?'

Given how badly her character went down, it was someone's passing shot at the producers methinks

# To be honest, Moffat can win over the die-hard fans in one swoop come 2010
and bring back Sally Sparrow as the new assistant
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 21:58, archived)
# yes yes yes YES!
she was awesome!

(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:03, archived)
# the one in "blink"
who was so ridiculously better than martha that they kept martha out of sight as much as possible in the hope that no-one would notice
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:05, archived)
# was she an assistant?
I clearly don't follow this half as much as a mna of my age is meant to
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:06, archived)
# you must remember the episode "blink" with the weeping angels, written by moffat the great
the doctor and martha were hardly in it because they were trapped in the past, it was mainly centred around her
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:08, archived)
# yeah I remember the episode
but she didn't stick in my memory
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:10, archived)
# One of those Front Pages
that were memorable
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:20, archived)
# the whole episode was appalling
it was like one big thumbs up to slash fic writers for Tennant on Tennant bumming books and two fingers up to everyone who actually wanted something close to science fiction
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 21:58, archived)
# Couldn't agree more
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:07, archived)
# It sounds like I'm homophobic, and I'm not
But I found the constant bumming/tuppence licking references wearing after a while.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:10, archived)
# All that sexual referencing and not one 'it's bigger on the inside' gag
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:11, archived)
# i thought it was a hoot
but then again i would as i only see it as bubblegum silliness tv, just like it always has been since i was a wee, scared and hiding behind the sofa nipper.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:12, archived)
# ^this. Entirely
It's Saturday night popcorn tv, and for that alone, I like it. It is infinitely preferable to 'Strictly Come Conga', 'How do you solve a problem like dwindling ratings' or other Norton fronted dross that relies on 'viewer participation' in the form of premium phone lines, and features 'celebrities' and andy warhol '15-minuters' who could all sing cabaret at the wailing wall and nobody would notice.

I've paid my license fee, now put on something entertaining that doesn't require any effort or more cash from me at a time which is considered 'peak' viewing.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:15, archived)
# folk do tend to take it too seriously i feel
i think the new stuff has been a giggle, i even like the sexual innuendos and all the mucking around, i watch it on a week by week basis generally having forgotten what happened in the previous episodes anyway.
i'm in the minority on here because i find the whole science fiction thing funny, the emphasis for me is firmly on the fiction, it's pretend, and it's supposed to be silly.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:22, archived)
# Youtube isn't working for me at present, but...
when you get a chance, search for 'shatner' + 'i am canadian' - he sums up the whole silliness of science fiction quite nicely.

hang on... www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1CwZgb_iAI

# will do
i think i've seen it but i'll go for another look.

edit/splendid stuff
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:28, archived)
# Heh, yeah I noticed that
But then they stuck Billy Piper in a whole different dimension and still managed to bring her back.

Hopefully the departure of RTD will put an end to these farcical storylines.

# he's still got the christmas episode and 3 specials next year he's 'overseeing'
there's still time yet to f*ck it up further
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:01, archived)
# You follow Doctor Who so maybe you can answer this...
the splodgy Dalek mad thing kept saying that one of the Doctors assistants would die.

Bit none of them did, or did I fall asleep and miss a bit?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:02, archived)
# it was referred to at the end when the doc was talking to wilf and her mum
something along the lines of 'That Donna is now dead' - after he wiped her mind of the memories relating to travelling with him. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:04, archived)
# ah, so someone die, but they won't, at all, they'll just forget stuff
is what he meant
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:05, archived)
# I assumed so.
It was all a bit 'rushed' and 'tricky' to follow. God knows how kids kept up with it. I can only assume the shoehorning in of every single strand mentioned throughout 4 seasons was washed over with the kids by having lots of loud shouty dialogue and explosions and spinning daleks
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:07, archived)
# I could not agree more actually
Yet another 'genocide of the Daleks' episode to round things off, I was rather hoping it stayed a bit dark to be honest
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:04, archived)
# aye, the 'end' of them was more than a bit 'pants' really :(
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:05, archived)
# And for the Christmas special...?
Cybermen. Again.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 22:12, archived)

she went down very well.
