XKCD is like...
what you'd get if you took the cleverness of a dolphin, the funniness of a monkey, and the stick-man-likeness of a flamingo, mixed them together then filtered it until you only had the awesome parts left, then posted that on the internet*.
Well, maybe just a bit of hyperbole there***, but it's still pretty gosh darn good. At least it's not trying to pretend that miscarriages are funny, like some web comics I could mention *cough* *control alt delete* *cough*.
All this being said I do occasionally have to look up stuff from XKCD on Wikipedia, so maybe you have a point...
* For this to work you need to know that dolphins are the cleverest animals and monkeys the funniest, this isn't an opinion, there was an article in Nature**.
** May contain traces of lies
*** May be a huge amount of hyperbole, but my point remains valid, maybe

I have to disagree, though
I don't get some of it, it is mostly inspired.

It's just so tedious. Observational humour from some teenage kid that I couldn't give a fuck about.
Of course, that's my opinion.

this has universal appeal, though?
edit: 7 but I'm going bed, and wont post until I've sorted out a picture for the milestone.

There were a few amusing ones ages ago, but they eventually just degenerated into terrible programming jokes. See below:

Like any comic, it has its good times and bad times.
Being a geek, I like many of them. Some are sweet (like the spinning and the ball room featured on the front page) and some are pure unmitigated genius (think: nerd sniping).

I find it alright
You either love it or hate it really.
Except for me.
I like some of it
The stuff I understand

Right.
This is just pissing me off because it needs watching for multiple times to read it all.
