it's nice to get all the stuff into one place, in years to come people will look back and marvel at how we mocked palin and the other old bloke.
it's a historical record, it would have been wrong to have done it.

also your image is shit :)
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:44, archived)
# This time next year we'll all have forgotten about Palin, and the other old bloke will be dead probably
I hope

# "Damned" and "bollocks" should not be in the same person's vocabulary of swearwords.
I like film noir though I think. What is a good film noir?
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:41, archived)
# Dark Passage.
The Big Sleep....

I love Lauren Bacall.

Checking.
Edit: ooh, a real film with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Fair enough.

# The hardcore anal one
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:48, archived)
# Never the latter one.
Never ever ever ever.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:52, archived)
# Classic or Neo noir?
Dead On Arrival is good classic noir. I'm not hugely versed or even fond of a lot of the neo noir stuff though.

# I see no IMDB entry for Dead on Arrival
though apparently it's an alternate title for this:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0078032/ is that what you meant?
...evidently not. Excellent, it's on archive.org, I saw Nosferatu that way.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:48, archived)
# Link above. (It's because it's actually called D.O.A. , but that's what it stands for so I presumed it would be listed as it)
You can download it or watch it on the tiny flash player, also if you click the Film Noir collection tag there are a fair few there too.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:50, archived)
# Try this
www.imdb.com/title/tt0042369/

*stops interjecting*
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:51, archived)
# You appear to know stuff, interject away.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:59, archived)
# For once I actually do, a bit.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:03, archived)
# Don't forget The Third Man as well, which somehow my brain doesn't catagorise as a noir film because of that jaunty zither music.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:06, archived)
# Ha!
Jaunty zither music, can't be bad. Well it could be awful, but in a good way.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:18, archived)
# Well...
What if that person is me?
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:47, archived)
# Then I find your character lacks realism.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:01, archived)
# Aw bollocks...
That's a damned shame.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:04, archived)
# It is a good comic, I like the comic.
By the way.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:08, archived)
# Haha!
Thanks!

It's gonna be a weekly thing, and I can exclusively reveal that week 3 will feature a big fuck-off monster.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:09, archived)
# mmmm
start with some Fritz Lang (M or Metropolis)
move to the Lost Weekend by Wilder, via Citizen Kane detour to I am a fugutive from a chain gang arrive at Manchurian candidate and then finally Blood Simple, Chinatown and Sin City
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:49, archived)
# I saw M, and half of Metropolis
M was bad as a movie, but sort of interesting as a historical document. It also has Peter Lorre in it a lot, running about and having his anxious, slimy, Peter Lorre face, which compensates. Metropolis ... I keep intending to finish watching because it's supposed to be good, but really, meh. Other suggestions there are all interesting, thanks.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:58, archived)
# yeah maybe work backwards
some david lynch some cohen brothers (early stuff) polanski - might be more accessible

if that fail watch porn

(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:08, archived)
# Actually I find I perk up a bit when something is in black and white or technicolor.
New films make me anxious that they will contain macho bullshit, romantic comedy, explosions at regular intervals, cheesy cliches or other crappiness.
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 16:13, archived)
# very nice indeed
(, Thu 30 Oct 2008, 15:43, archived)
