i am making them with inkscape in linux, and then having to open it with the image viewer and resave it.. gifs come out to jagged

But I need a hand making an animation on gimp :(

I've put in each layer name (replace) but this obliterates the background image. How do I make each frame pop up only once so I get a nice smooth 10 frame transition with each layer hovering over a background.

If this makes no sense ignore/abuse me (sob)
