we went shopping for a Mobile Broadband + Laptop deal and I specified that I wanted the best laptop we could afford with the deal and it must have a "Dedicated" graphics card. We asked the assistant as the card said nothing about what graphic chip was onboard plus they had rigged it so you couldn't bring up the computer properties to find out that way - I had to explain to her the difference between Intergrated and Dedicated and she told us 3 times yes it was a dedicated Graphics Card - we get it home and guess what it's a crappy Intergated card that shares the memory from the computer's memory so no good. We take it back to be told We cannot get out of the contract and we were given the run around - even Trading Standards more or less told us we were screwed tough shit!
We went to PC World and every one of their laptops and computers told us exactly what type of grphics card it was and how much memory in total if it was part dedicated part intergrated so we took another deal out with a different Mobile Broadband and got this nifty Acer Aspire 8930G which I love so much :D *glees*
I Hate Carphone Whorehouse!!

everyone else yes - T-Mobile NO!
fuckers!!
and yes I realise that dedicated share memory but they have more onboard dedicated memory and can handle 3D games, 3D Programs, Photoshop After Effects far better than an Intergrated chip which is only really useful for home finances and surfing the interweb.

All these deals have a 7 day cooling off period, and even then, you've been missold a product.
Your Trading Standards want shooting.

threatening legal action if they didn't reply within 14 days - but we would have to take them to court and we would have to prove that the sale's rep told us it was a dedicated chip. The 14 days expired they didn't contact us and our bluff was called - we don't have the money to pursue this further - so James is having the other laptop despite my protests.

and laying the Sale of Goods Act on them, which basically states the retailer has the responsibility

Retailers are pooing themselves over this at the moment, sicne the BBC did a big report on it.
My Xbox recently died out of warranty, phoned Game HO, they said there was nothing they could do. I mentioned the SoG Act and they suddenly went, take it to your nearest store and get it replaced.
At the end of the day, you've done nothing wrong. You bought a prodcut in good faith, based on the advice you were given. This has turned out not to be the case, so it's their fault.

but I think he's of the mind that it's not worth fighting over - I think it is and I'm bloody annoyed as anyone can be caught in such a trap especially with T-Mobile mobile broadband - steer well clear of them unless you know what you're getting.

I had to explain in detail to several of their staff what the difference was and you could see the glazed expression on their faces meant they were off in fluffy bunny world rather than listening to what I was saying.
