# /geek_mode
Han wants to look for Luke who is lost on hoth (having been attacked by the Wampa creature) - he asks for a speeder, and is told "we're havinbg trouble adapting them for the cold"

so He goes out on a Tauntaun.

# Why are they called "snowspeeders" then, eh?
huh? huh?
(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 17:06, archived)
# they weren't refered to that in the movies - only in the marketing/merchendise
(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 17:09, archived)
# Oh, you're good!
(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 17:09, archived)
# maybe hoth was colder than other snowy areas
I believe snow forms at around 0 degrees C, but there are in actual fact temperatures below this figure

# Oh it's "actual facts" now, is it?
I see ;)
(, Wed 4 Nov 2009, 17:12, archived)
# no, just commenting that that line in the film could actually have made some scientific sense
if some part of the "spaceships" had trouble operating at say -30 degrees C

What you should be questioning though is why Jamelia is on so many comedy shows.

# if you haven't, and are partial to the odd bit of scifi now and again, it's worth it...
most of us grew up with it, so it's quite important in terms of nostalgia, hence the obsession. The scripts, in all honesty are not particularly brilliant, and the prequel trilogy are a joke, overall, but 4, 5 and 6 are really worth watching

The t-47 was designed by the Incom corp as a light transport aircraft. The Rebels fitted blasters, badabing etc.

# there's more than one planet in the universe with snow on it so surely "snowspeeders" would be logical (even though there's the adaption thing)
they'd be great in Norway, which incidentally is where it was filmed I believe
