i watched a trailer for FF13 and the graphics are super cool but it looks like it has the most lame cliche story ever

Until the moment you found out they ALL came from the same orphanage, how lame, did none of them recognise each other?!

Also as far as I'm aware the development teams make every 3rd title, thus the team who made FFVIII also made FFX-2 and are making FFXIII.

In ff9 it's a monster you met in the outer continent. 9 didn't have guardian forces. I don't know it from any others
