This is a normal post Are you actually being serious?
Allow me to list his films since Reservoir Dogs that have been brilliant.

Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill Part 1
Kill Bill Part 2
Death Proof

Granted, the man doesn't do a lot of work, but he is pretty much batting a thousand.

Now, let's compare that with JJ Abrams:

Mission:Impossible III
Star Trek

Now, I haven't seen Star Trek, and I have heard good things about so ok. However, you can not even compare Abrams to Tarantino.

And to be honest, saying something like "[Tarantino] Hasn't made a good film since Reservoir Dogs, and that wasn't very good either." actually shows up how much of a cretin you are.

He's a hack. Every movie he's ever made has been a massive rip off of somebody else work, por relies on someone elses work for the best bits of the film. And the NBK treatment he wrote wan't even the one that Stone used to make the movie. He's a rip off merchant who doesn't erven have the good grace to tell everyone who he's used for his newest "original" film. Just see Ringo Lam and City On Fire, then come back and say he's original and talented. And his dialoghue sucsk now. Oh, and Kill Bill 1 and 2 were two terrible and self indulgent films that could've been one average movie.

This is a normal post Let's be fair here 'sushi,
the only brilliant film out of that Tarantino list you've mentioned is Jackie Brown.
Pulp Fiction is over hyped for what it is, Kill Bill was indulgent dross, and as for Death Proof, it was an interesting distraction at best.

J. Brown has the best cast, best acting, best story and best dialogue of anything he's done since 'Dogs

/lol omg opinionz on the internet lolz

This is a normal post Oh of course sir,
I am expressing personal opinion here. However, I am pretty sure that you wouldn't come out calling him a cretin and stating that even Reservoir Dogs wasn't very good at all. I personally would say that J Brown is my favourite Tarantino film, but Pulp Fiction would be second with Dogs third. All personal opinion of course :)

This is a normal post Again, resevoir dogs is not his own movie.
Its an americanised version of City on Fire, down to the double handgun stylistic thing. Plus, City on Fire has Chow Yun Fat being all good and Hong Kong and that
(, Sun 9 Aug 2009, 20:11, Reply)
This is a normal post City is fire is quite poor
And it is very different to Reservoir dogs.
(, Sun 9 Aug 2009, 20:56, Reply)
This is a normal post Fair Point.
But it was a large influence on Resevoir Dogs. I just can't stand Tarantino, he's started to become intolerable. No good films in at least 10 years plus arsehole credentials equals unlikable up himself wanker.

This is a normal post Pulp Fiction had a lot of firsts and broke down a lot of barriers that are now imitated mercilessly
not the least of which was the way he humanized the bad guys by way of passing-the-time banter. without pulp fiction you'd never have had Sexy Beast, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch, anything like that.

i wasn't saying JJ Abrams was any good either. I was just stating how overrated Tarantino is.

You bring up his track record. I call every single film he's done post-Dogs is mere droll. JJ Abrams isn't the most original of directors (i.e sequals, revamps in Godzilla, Star Trek) but at least he breathed new life into everything he's done. Tarantino, in comparison, merely takes pop culture references and squeezes every last breath out of them.

Pulp Fiction is just a homage to 70s chic.
Jackie Brown a continuation, and just futhers my point on unoriginality that he took so long to make, directly following Fiction.
Kill Bill in itself was terrible, but the man is so vain that not only is he parodying Western takes on Asian filmmaking that it starts to parody his older work.
And Death Proof was simply boring and misogynistic.

There was tension in Dogs. That's what made it interesting. It didn't feel like a homage, it had closer ties to theatre than anything made in the 60s and 70s. He threw all that away with a constant string overstyled shout-outs. Balls to the man.

In response to the 'breathing new life in to star trek' bit.

New life was breathed in to Batman, the difference is, it didn't shit all over Batmans core audience.

Great comment. And probably why the new Batman films are superior. But i never really watched the Star Trek series so it didn't bother me all that much.

the Abrams/Tarantino debate was only down to the content in the video. No-one brought it up.

And anyone who says 'i haven't seen *said film*, but...' has no scope of the arguement as a whole, and opinion as thus is invalid.

I was just pointing out that you can't make a comment like 'you can not even compare Abrams to Tarantino' when you haven't even seen Abrams' full body of work.

Not that i was comparing them, originally.
(, Sun 9 Aug 2009, 17:01, Reply)
This is a normal post Well yes, of course you can.
So for example, I have not heard all of The Beatles work, and I haven't heard all of The Beach Boys work. However, I can still comment and compare them.

This is a normal post and how, exactly?
The validity of your opinion is weighed directly upon how much exposure you've had to whatever topic of choice. In any medium.

I'm sorry mate but the second anyone goes 'I haven't seen it, but...' i just switch off. Doesn't cut the mustard.
(, Sun 9 Aug 2009, 17:43, Reply)
This is a normal post I said I haven't seen it, but I have heard good things about it.
I wasn't going to say it was shit, and I wasn't going to say it was good. I haven't seen it, so I can't express my opinion. I was stating that I could not pass judgment upon it for that exact reason as part of the bigger statement. Either you are being deliberately obtuse here, or you really do need to sort your head out.
(, Sun 9 Aug 2009, 18:04, Reply)
This is a normal post That is not what i am pointing out
What i am saying is, in your original post you stated 'Now, let's compare that with JJ Abrams' whilst not seeing all his work. That is what is annoying me. Nothing obtuse about it. Fairly simple.
