This is a normal post Hell no.
I get bored and head for the kettle halfway through that sequence. Would be so much better at about a third of its duration.

But I'm with you; an excellent film all round.

This is a normal post Without a doubt
The whole film is a masterpiece. One of my personal top 10. One of those rare films I seem to be able to watch multiple times and still find fascinatingly crafted.

This is a normal post De Niro and Pacino had a falling out on Godfather II. and refused to work with each other
The scenes of them talking in the cafe is in fact them talking to a stunt double in a wig filmed from behind, and when you do see them both in profile, no one in the background crosses the screen so they could composite the shots together.

This is a normal post When I joined up
They showed this (the firefight bit) in secondary training and said that if you do something like this then you'll be off to a good start.

Think it was choreographed by an ex Hereford chap.

Cheers for linkage and the trip down memory lane.

This is a normal post 'Pepper potting'
It was old Andy McNab who was the consultant for the film, specifically this bit where they press and advance while firing covering each other - moving your pieces like pepperpots. Even Pacino checking for a round in the chamber before beaching was suggested by McNab.

AND the shooting direct thru the windscreen instead of the movie "lean out of the window" - was a tactic used in Northern Ireland during the Troubles in get aways by 14 Det.

I saw it in the cinema, the gunshot cracks are so loud and jarring with the echos, proper intense - they sound more realistic than most film gunshots. Such a good film, Moby's soundtrack too.

1 of my all time favourites.
