This is a link post Burn, outrage, boom.
Ah, that makes it all better.

If someone burns your fav mag and you get upset then why not write a rather stiff letter to the editor of the Times?

This is a normal post I am not supporting this in any way
but those people who have ritual ceremonies where they deliberately try to show the contempt they have for another group of people are kind of asking for it.

If they had burned a Koran along with a load of other rubbish or just chucked it away because they did not want it, that would be another matter, but deliberate enticement is not on.

Yes, you do not care about the Koran, but you know damned well that they do - imagine the Spanish ritually killing your cat at you. Spain thinks nothing of killing cats, but they know that you do.

A Korean killing your dog for food is one thing, killing your dog deliberately in order to show how worthless you are? A whole different ball game.

Now I know that the US says that the burning of the Koran was unintentional, but I am trying to think of a situation where a Koran gets burned by mistake in a military camp.

As I say, I am not supporting this in any way, but you comparing it to a mag you like shows false ignorance - you know damned well how important it is to them and, just because it is not important to you does not mean it is okay.

This is a normal post All of which is rather undermined by the fact that my spellcheck thinks that incitement
should be enticement.

This is a normal post Gosh didn't expect that.
But anyway, sure I know how much the Koran means to many Muslims and I was displaying false ignorance about this. There is a great difference between a Muslim and an Islamist though. The latter get these headlines all around the globe and the former suffer the consequences of the inevitable reaction of people around the world who then tend to lump them all together, partly because of lazy racism, deep rooted cultural xenophobia or just a genuine hatred of that particular faith.

My clumsily made point is sadly loads of peaceful people all over the place will suffer because of this action - action by the person who burned that book and also the murders of other people by individuals who especially loved the aforementioned book. The overall reaction to burning a book, even this hyper special book, is maybe something that needs to be put into a more reasonable manner which is led by the senior member of that religion's global community so that the actions of these Wahhabi Islamists is seen, and globally exposed, as a totally unacceptable action which has got nothing to do with the 100% of that faith (the murderers are not muslims, just murderers). Contacting the media to express discontent with the destruction of your favourite book would signify a far more developed and constructive way to lead an educated response than the actions of violence which is something that the Islamists desperately want in order to polarise 'us' against 'them' and break down any bonds which may tie us all together, it is a form of faith apartied which the extremists want in order to push their agenda. They actively delight in any slip up as it gives them an opportunity to go mental.

Edit: the language used by the extremists is one which aims to de-humanise the kuffir into identifying non Muslims as dogs or dog shit, devils, etc. This is only the view of these extremist Wahhabi loonies which are in the minority but it is they who have been trained up in Saudi and sent out as missionaries around the world to spread these views. Islamists are not idiots, in order to be brain washed you need to have a brain worth washing.

This is a normal post its a bunch of mashed up old tree
and a liberal coating of ink in specific patterns.

Some people might want to attribute something more to it.

Just like I might want to attribute something more to an empty Coke can, say, that it represents the spirit of my great grandmother.

I might get upset at you chucking that Coke can in the fire, but I'm still a fucking loony if I go and kill someone over it.

Its a fucking book, paper and ink. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is a normal post And child porn is just a bunch of 1's and 0's represented by the magnetic field of a hard drive platter.
One is the message and one is the delivery of the message.

Saying that though, it's about time to get the fuck out of that country.
Let it get back to it's civil war it's been fighting for decades.

This is a normal post Seeing how the Taliban appear to have put sleepers in every level of the new government's security structure
I predict a quick bloody interdepartmental civil war within the security services, hamid karzai escaping to a friendly nation and everything getting back to the way it was and some really cheap skag flooding the west.

This is a normal post i know you're just trying to show a reasning for this
but think of it another way:

people just DIED because of a book. There are plenty of other copies. But apparently every single copy of that book is delivered to earth by God himself, and can't be destroyed.

Do you have any idea how loony that sounds to a sane person?

your examples with the cats and dogs is so off the scale that it is laughable. Have you ever tried burning a cat? They get really pissed off, mainly cos if you burn them enough, they will DIE.

Pretty sure that books are not feeling that same pain as they go up in flames.

If God was truly omnipotent, and he really cared about books so much, then don't you think he'd deliver them directly from the sky, rather than rely on us humans to write and print them out for him?

This is a normal post I just downloaded a free ePub version of the koran
I am now going to delete it, and I mean completely delete it, from the recycle bin and everything.

Will my life be in danger from outraged Islamists as a result?
