This is a link post The Independent clarifies the whole animal sentience thing
I wonder if the people that signed petitions for this eu law to become uk law thought about how little it protects animals?

It allows bull fighting and force feeding of geese for foie gras for example.

Good. I like Foie Gras. Fuck geese, they're loud and annoying.

'Zac Goldsmith said that the discussion of the vote was “weird and dishonest”' - He'd fucking know he's an expert in "weird and dishonest"

Another MP called the reporting fake news and said: "This government, and in fact all governments, are deeply committed to continuing to protect animals as sentient beings. That law is already written into our own law.” (That much isn’t true: there’s no mention of sentience in existing UK law.)

So basically you've got two tories lying directly to our faces again and we don't actually have a better version of the act anywhere in sight? But yeah, fuck you Europe!

This is a normal post So you support a cruel practice because geese are "loud and annoying" but get worked up about this act not becoming law?
I can only assume that you care more about the eu as an institution than what they actually do.

I look forward to the debate when some eu workers rights legislation is debated and changed slightly when it becomes uk law. No doubt you will be decrying any change to eu workers rights despite showing quite thatcherite views in the past.

when did I get worked up about this? I said (and I quote from the original thread) "It's a pattern of behaviour. See also the proposed scrapping of the human rights act." Would you like a link, as you're clearly a bit too thick to remember things:
For Cerebus, becuase he's a moron

I don't really give a shit about animals, except that I want them to taste nice and that generally involves not battery farming or torturing them...except for geese, I'm really 100% fine with french people torturing them.

You do know that Thatcher was hugely pro-europe right? As in she was a competent politician with half a brain that could see being a leading star of the worlds greatest free market, might just be a plus for the financial future of the country? Unlike you, you dumb yokel.

This is a normal post I think this animal rights angle has got some traction
We've seen how 52% people are so thick and racist they'd happily bin their own rights and living standards in exchange for a bendy banana, where do you go from there?

This is a normal post Still doesn't answer why the MPs voted against it
and when they will actually put animal sentience in to any of the animal welfare bills that Theresa May and Michael Gove assure us are adequate enough

This is a normal post I could read Hansard and find out why each m.p voted the way they did but seeing as it was split done party lines I would guess "politics"
Hansard link

The tories didn't want to bring over what they saw as bad legislation and the opposition wanted to defeat the tories.

As for when Gove couldn't answer that on the Today program this morning but I would guess it will to avoid another embarrassing situation like this.

This vegetarian/vegan recipe is completely free from meat and meat by-products which can eliminate some skin and fur complaints, stomach and intestinal problems and hyperactivity which could be caused by the consumption of meat.

Dogs can't digest wheat, so they just shit it out in huge dollops. I feed my dog on a lamb/rice food and only have to pick up a few Maltezers.
