There's something about their tube ads that really gets to me. For those who don't know, they're cloyingly soppy idealisations of things marketing men thought might sound romantic like, "I texted my friend the day before and he told me to wear any shirt but the pink one" or "I shaved three days before the date so I'd have the perfect amount of stubble."
They annoy me. Every time I look at one I want to replace it with something even remotely plausible, like say "I hid in the bathroom 15 minutes before she came round and had a quick one off the wrist so I wouldn't appear too desperate."
I thought I was alone in this until I one night I saw someone had taken a Sharpie to the one that says "I listened to her favourite album the night before our date to see why she liked it so much" and amended it so the LP was labelled Bros. It's the first time an online dating advert has made me think that somewhere, out there, is a kindred spirit.
