This is a question The Little Things

'Hullo chaps', bellows Richard McBeef, of 'the internet' fame. My boss has managed to make 'shown' into a two syllable word and it drives me round the fucking bend. Tell us about the little things that people around you do, which annoy you for more than they rationally should. Vent your spleen.

Fucking Cyclists
Who cycle on the road when there is a perfectly good cycle path next to it. Lycra clad arseholes think that they own the road. Hopefully they will be introduced to the tires of a HGV that they are too entitled to get out of the way of.

The highways department of Luton decided that a pavement, made almost entirely of cracked, unstable paving slabs, would make an ideal cycle path.
I make no apologies for cycling in the road, in situations like that.

Which is, I imagine...
... why the OP took the trouble to specify "a perfectly good cycle path", rather than "a shit cycle path".
(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 13:28, closed)
To be fair it's Luton, they're just assuming if you own a bike it'd get nicked before you even try it on the cycle path.

The easy solution is to ban all motorised vehicles from the roads.
(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 13:55, closed)
fucking motorists
who drive on the A6 when there is a perfectly good motorway next to it
(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 16:44, closed)
Let me see if I've got this right - you're wishing death on people because of their choice of transport?

(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 21:23, closed)
Oh no, sorry, I misread it. You're wishing death on them because they're inconveniencing you due to their mode of transport.
Silly me.
(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 21:32, closed)
Even though if one of them did get crushed under a lorry it'd close the road for a good hour, far longer than you're having to wait to find a good place to get past.
Still, I guess it's worth it because then there's one less of the vermin to worry about, eh?
(, Wed 23 Mar 2016, 21:41, closed)

That's 3 levels of outrage
(, Thu 24 Mar 2016, 11:52, closed)
Upset cubed.

(, Thu 24 Mar 2016, 21:52, closed)
no because they are over entitled gits who ride in packs and have no consideration for anyone else
The road on my way to work has lots of HGVs on it and as a result the council put a footpath (not used much) and cycle path combo at the side of the road. Wide smooth and flat (amazingly). People still don't use it choosing instead to cycle in the middle of the road. Deserve everything they get.

yes

(, Tue 29 Mar 2016, 9:42, closed)
Don't fuck them then.

Have a thing about entitled smug gits in stretched lycra though

ALL cyclists
are cunts. CUNTS. They don't pay road tax, or have insurance, they ride through red lights, ride ILLEGALLY on the pavements, weave in and out of traffic, and NEVER USE the cycle lanes provided for them by the hard working tax paying motorist.

They are childish pricks who have never grown out of going out and playing on their silly little toys and now expect everyone else to pay up and jump through hoops just to accommodate their puerile little hobby.

They wear ridiculous dayglo lycra pants, silly plastic hats, and cycling team T-shirts in the mistaken belief that they are in the Tour de fucking France.

They are selfish, self-righteous, arrogant assholes who mistakenly think that by choosing a 'green' form of transport, they are 'saving the planet.' But the manufacture of bicycles, bicycle equipment and accessories and clothing actually CAUSES climate change and global warming, so they are actually DESTROYING, not saving, the planet.

They bleat and whinge at every little criticism aimed at them and cannot admit that their shit stinks just like everyone else's.

And funding for cycling infrastructure TAKES MONEY AWAY from health and social services so the reason the NHS cannot afford cancer medicine for little Timmy or Granny IS DOWN TO CYCLISTS. THEY ARE KILLING LITTLE KIDS AND OLD PEOPLE.

Cyclists are CUNTS, VERMINOUS, ABOMINABLE CUNTS and they should all be rounded up and shot.

Erm
There's no such thing as road tax, you pay vehicle tax.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2016, 21:59, closed)
GOTCHA

(, Sun 3 Apr 2016, 12:51, closed)
Oh but
they most likely do pay "road tax" - how many cyclists don't have a car?

cycle lanes
A boring answer about why I don't always use cycle lanes:

They are usually crap. They are *not* cycle lanes. They are allow-council-to-tick-box lanes.

A real cycle lane would not have driveways and sideroads cutting across it every 20 yards, giving a gamble as to whether a car will shoot across in front of you without looking. Cycle lanes should have priority at driveways, but they don't. Not round here anyway.

A real cycle lane would not end and dump you unexpectedly in the main carriageway just were the road gets dangerous.

Cycle lanes are usually covered in thorns, broken glass, nails etc. They never get swept and are a sure fire way of getting a puncture.

A real cycle lane would be wide enough to pass a cyclist coming the other way without having to stop.

So most cycle lanes are the equivelant of a motorist driving on a single track road where you have to pull on to the verge to let approaching cars by, littered with 6 inch nails and tacks, with blind bends so you can't get out of 2nd gear, speed bumps at every driveway and sideroad to jolt you, and with the driveway of every house also having priority over you, but with no markings to indicate that a vehicle may pull out from each blind entrance. Oh, and juggernauts also feel free to park right in this road, blocking it completely.

Or I can just cycle on the smoother main carriageway and travel at a decent speed, with sideroads giving way for me, space for 2 lanes of traffic, and less broken glass, until they build me a *real* cycle lane.

It's spelt......
....tyres, not tires.

As in "The Lone Groover tires of contributors who are unable to spell "tyres" correctly."

Pedantic cycle riding twunt that I am.
