Yeah, I can barely walk out of the door without being mobbed by theists with PA systems. It surely is a realistic and relevant vignette you're painting here.

Given the context of this being a message board, I was referring more to how people behave on message boards. It seems there are far more people breathlessly proclaiming their disbelief as if such things have been interesting and edgy since the middle of the last century, then there are insisting that I Praise the Lord. And frankly, I'm not that interested in either - believe in what you like, be it Sky Pixies or nothing whatsoever, just don't presume that it'll be in the least bit interesting to anybody else.

I fall well and truely into the "Atheist but don't give a shit" category.

I work with kids who have behavioural difficulties and they were getting a talk about drugs and alcoholism from a religious based support group.
One of them asked my about my beliefs. I told them I was an Atheist.
He says "How does that feel?" as if some fundamental piece of my existence was missing and I should be miserable and heartbroken.
I asked him if he believes in Buddhism or Islam. He said "No". I replied "It feels like that". He stomped off a bit deflated, it was a stupid fucking question though.

Have your beliefs but don't judge or look down on others for having different ones.

Unless you've been on both sides I suppose.
I usually just say that I'm happy to be a moral person who tries to help others and don't feel that I have a void or something missing that I need religion to fill. Whether it be a comfort, sense of purpose/belonging or a moral guide.
