This is a question Controversial Beliefs

Some mugs still think the MMR injection gives children autism (it doesn't), while others are of the belief that we're ruled by billionaire lizard people. Tell us about views outside the mainstream which people go glassy eyed if you bang on about them (Your grandad's a racist - no need to tell us, thanks)

Any adult with a pet larger than a goldfish,
is trying to fill a child-shaped hole in their life.
When they start referring to them as "my babies," or telling everyone that a new puppy is "just like a child", it's probably a sign that their gonads have committed suicide.

Thinking of adopting a cat? It won't love you back, you know.

This. For once, Ben Elton was right about this.
"It's no 'Hello mummy' it's 'Where's my Whiskers?' - she thinks she is her cat's mother ... and we're supposed to TRUST HER OPINION?!"

yeah, but there's less responsibility in owning a dog and more fun
plus they die after roughly 15 years so you don't have to worry about buying them a car or putting them through uni or anything

It's this "less responsibility" attitude
that covers the pavement in dog turds.

No - I think you'll find that's the dogs.

You're not sorry.

That's the point, the owners should be responsible for their dogs.
I'd advocate a pet cull, but
a) threatening to kill animals never wins any friends
b) rounding up the owners into death-camps would be more in keeping with this week's tone.

they should,
I own a dog and I always pick up after him. It disgusts me how much of it gets left on the pavement. Or the really unfathomable thing, when they go to the trouble of picking it up in a bag and tying it up, and then just leaving it there at the side of the path.

it's to preserve the poo for the next generation to experience

They don't generally leave it at the side of the path. Mostly I see it hanging from trees and bushes at eye level, which is definitely worse.

If I were to go up on our roof with a high-powered airgun to shoot the dog that keeps leaving massive turds on our street
I bet I'd be the one to get into trouble

which is why everyone should use dog nappies

my parents never bought me a car,
although eventually they got frustrated by my own lack of bothering to get one for myself and tried to lumber me with mum's old Nissan Micra, which I didn't want.

Better they have pets than kids.
Kids cause far more problems than pets.
Other people's pets aren't all annoying little shits either.
(, Sat 27 Apr 2013, 10:54, closed)
Keeping animals as pets is by far the nicest way of teaching your kids about death.
