This is a question Crap Gadgets

We wanted a monkey butler and bought one off eBay. Imagine our surprise when we found it was just an ordinary monkey with rabies. Worse: It had no butler training at all. Tell us about your duff technology purchases.

Thanks to Moonbadger for the suggestion

SEGA Game Gear
The colour screen! Just look at the (very small) colour screen! Bought for me one christmas instead of the SEGA Master System (Because, as my mother pointed out, 'those games consoles bugger up the screens on tele's'). I was genuinely excited. I ripped open the batteries that had been wrapped up as an extra present, jammed them in and began my gaming career on my new portable games system! 15, maybe 20 mins later.... low battery... bugger.

This went on for some time until I was able to buy a lead. But this meant I could only play it within about 1 meter from a wall with a plug socket. So many a night you'd find me sat at the top of our stairs, in the dark, playing Mortal Kombat.

Finish Him! Indeed...

Still, the colour screen was miles better than the GameBoys...

two words
extension lead

but i'd just used up me pocket money on the lead. Plus the green extension lead was in the shed and me Dad needed that for mowing the lawn, it was a risk I wasn't willing to take.

Sure the whole point is for it to be portable anyway?
If you're only going to play it while plugged into the wall you may as well be playing a console!

I do remember having many, many hours of fun on James Pond... and Sonic Chaos... oh the Chaos...
(, Fri 30 Sep 2011, 9:54, closed)
Sonic Chaos was my first experience of Sonic
and I still think it's one of the better games in the whole (what must be 100+ games now) series

Battery life apart, it was a lovely piece of kit
my mate had one with a TV tuner - it was like having a very small portable television that was amazing, provided you didn't want to watch anything longer than about 15 minutes

what I wouldn't've given for the T.V adapter...

Also remember Micro Machines being an awesome game, even if the game did stick out the top of the game gear...

ATARI LYNX
Did it all bigger, better and with less battery life.

I still have mine
And a GP2X.

Which proves i am incapable of learning.

There were several portable consoles going around when I was at school.
From what I could see the Lynx was the best of the bunch.
