This is a question Creepy!

Smash Monkey asks: "what's the creepiest thing you've seen, heard or felt? What has sent shivers running up your spine and skidmarks running up your undercrackers? Tell us, we'll make it all better"

Not so much creepy
as just makes me shake in uncontrolled terror whenever I think about it, partly because I don't like confined spaces and mainly because it's just about the grimmest thing I've ever heard.

The Byford Dolphin Diving Bell Accident...

If you don't know what happened, have a look on wikipedia.

I live in fear that I'll stumble across the accident scene pictures.

I need to stop thinking about this now, it's making me all scratchy and anxious.

*cries*

They didn't say it was quick for the other three divers.
I suddenly don't feel the need to see Watchmen again now...

Engineering
As part of my engineering degree we did a module on Health & Safety, COSHH and so on. In one lecture the tutor said "Right, today we are doing industrial accidents." Along with Flixborough, one in France where methane gas tanks blew up and burnt so hot that firemen were carbonised on to the concrete floor and of course the Byford disaster. Then without a by your leave he put up a slide show of the aftermath pictures for all these and many more. Some people lost their breakfast.
