They are really, really fucking shit.
When they started out I was still a semi-professional hip hop DJ and I was sent their first records. It was before they recruited that ghastly chav girl in a (very successful) attempt to chase chart success, and they were weedy, insipid pop-rap even then.

Their rhymes are gay, that bird is horrible, and they have also ruined a couple of decent records by interpolating sections of them in their songs. I now struggle with 'Misirlou' by Dick Dale & The Deltones (one of my father's favourite records) and 'I wonder if I take you home' by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, because of those cunts.

Well they may ask 'where is the love?' because they get none from me, the fucking shirters.

My first college roommate...
...was friends with Fergie (then Stacey). They met doing a Burger King advert or something.

So the inevitable happens: Stacey comes to stay for a few days. While this was when she was apparently addicted to meth, the only Stacey I met was a self-absorbed blonde with an addiction to lettuce, talking about her 'calling', and exercising. CONSTANTLY.

I firmly believe a horrible meth addiction was contrived to make her look more 'street' and less 'valley girl'. Shame.

As I mentioned in my post on the subject,
found here, I actually quite enjoy the first two albums. Sure, they're not masterpieces, but they're not awful.

What makes the Black Eyed Peas so, so terrible is not just the "music" that they fart out now, but the fact that they are so blatantly pandering to the braindead lumpenproletariat masses to make money. Take Will.I.Am as an example - he's capable of making decent music: he produced "Hip-Hop Is Dead" for Nas, and that's quite a good beat, and I seem to remember him doing a decent verse on Ozomatli's Vocal Artillery. But instead of trying to improve on their first two albums, he made the conscious decision to dumb everything down as far as possible in the pursuit of money.

And that's what I really hate about them - they aren't just stupid people making stupid music because it's all they can do (well OK, Fergie is) - they're people who probably could have been much better, but thought "fuck it, we'll just crap out festering lowest common denominator shit because people will lap it up and we'll make more money than Croesus". That's the very definition of selling out, and that is why I hate the Black Eyed Peas.
