This is a question B3TA fixes the world

Moon Monkey says: Turn into Jeremy Clarkson for a moment, and tell us about the things that are so obviously wrong with the world, and how they should be fixed. Extra points for ludicrous over-simplification, blatant mis-representation, and humourous knob-gags.

And get
shopping vouchers or discounts on rates in relation to how much you contribute.

Maybe there's a special prize like when you've generated 1.21gigawatts you get to drive a Delorean complete with time circuits and flux capacitor.

You have a point
On a good day I output between 250-300 Watts when using my gym's step machine. That isn't enough juice to power the LCD TV display on the machine itself.

Which puts energy useage into perspective I suppose.

Collectively I'm sure it would be worth it.
