This is a question LOL Bigots

Freddie Woo says: "A bloke who lived next door to my mum told me on the day Diana died that it was 'God's punishment for sleeping with an Arab'". Tell us stories of bigots, racists, sexists, homophobes and loud-mouths so that we may point and laugh

I like how the Anti-Nazi League think Nazis shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions.

Just like atheists are as bad as religious
zzzzzzzz
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 15:48, closed)
Militant atheists are, yes.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 15:59, closed)
Yes, with their terror attacks and their bigotry.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:02, closed)
Bigotry against the religious, yes.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:07, closed)
bigotry is bigotry.
It doesnt matter whether the bigot is a more righteous bigot for being on one side rather than the other. Some Atheists are just as mental as the fundamentalists they decry. I'm not sure why atheists feel the need to be quite so aggressive (same as I feel about some religious people)
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:37, closed)
only this afternoon
I had to politely tell a doorstepping atheist that I had no interest at all in his rational and level-headed belief system, and please don't bother me again.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:42, closed)
Ah... those lovely tolerant atheists
So, so, inclusive and generally loving towards all folks.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:46, closed)
Doorstepping mormons can fuck off though

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 17:03, closed)
That's something we can all agree on

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 17:03, closed)
Out of interest, would your definition of "hate speech"
include those parts of the Koran which encourage violence against the unbeliever?
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 17:02, closed)
Fucking hell
I turn into one of those cunts on The Telegraph comments page when it comes to this issue, sorry. Still, they've got a point...I find loads of opinions deeply objectionable, some to the point where I wouldn't mind giving some cunt a slap, but I'd much rather they were out there.
(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 3:53, closed)
it's not really as simple as that though, is it?

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 15:52, closed)
Isn't it?
What is it, then?

"Freedom of speech except for people we don't want to speak."
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 15:58, closed)
freedom of speech doesn't extend to hate speech.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 15:59, closed)
and far-right demos often involve violence against ethnics

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:00, closed)
Yes - the Nazis seemed to be plagued by violent enemies.
Gosh - it's like ... it's like the Anti-Nazi league ... use similar justifications for their behaviour as the Nazis!

Ah, right, I see.
So I'm right.

Oh the ironing - the Nazis feel pretty similary - freedom of speech, except for ... well, people we don't want to speak. Call it hate speech, call them terrorists, or whatever.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:04, closed)
no, give a fair platform
But there are laws prohibiting hate speech, and for good reason. I'm personally in favour of giving crackpots like Nick Griffin the chance to embarrass themselves publicly. What I'n not in favour of us groups like the EDL being given the chance to march and cause trouble- whether that's violence or intimidation.

Likewise, UAF and ANL etc deliberately causing violence does nobody any good, but the only people they're victimising are people who espouse racist and extremely discriminatory views and, to a large extent, choose to do so. UAF and ANL don't go out of their way to intimidate mothers and young children. The EDL do.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:40, closed)
Just like atheists do!

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:47, closed)
Who gets to define what constitutes "hate speech"?
It's bullshit legislation. If people are offended by political opinions, they need to grow up.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:48, closed)
Q. Why do EDL members travel in groups of eight or more?
A. So that one can read, one can write, and the other six can beat the two intellectuals senseless and stamp on their heads if they show any sign of ideological impurity.

Apart from when they are threatening, shouting and swearing at parents with children who attend the BNP's red white and blue weekend.

I abhor elitism and extremism but I particularly despise hypocrisy.
(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 9:17, closed)
Yes it does
Unless there's a direct threat to the person or persons, all speech should be free. Nobody should be expected to give a flying fuck for your offended morality.
You need to read JS Mill, as soon as possible.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:55, closed)
Some dead guy said...
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Who gets to decide then? I wouldn't trust myself so I'm buggered if I'd trust anyone else to make the decision.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 22:28, closed)
I know, it's appalling...
...it's like how the Fire Brigade think people shouldn't set fire to stuff, but don't they realise that if nothing ever caught fire they'd be out of a job? It's Political Correctness Gone Mad.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:37, closed)
It would save a lot of arguments if everyone could just agree that the holocaust didn't happen.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:39, closed)
Typical jew

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 17:03, closed)
Oh 2 Can. :(
The Holocaust DID happen. And it was AWESOME!
(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 8:12, closed)
I'm afraid I have to object to this sort of "joke", because my grandfather died at Auschwitz
He was laughing so hard he fell out of his guard tower.
(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 18:40, closed)
Unless they actually threaten to commit a criminal act
they should be allowed to say whatever the fuck they want. "Hate speech" is just a means of shutting down debate.

Nick Griffin appearing on Question Time
did more to discredit the BNP than a hundred ANL demonstrations.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 16:57, closed)
exactly.
Give a platform.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 17:15, closed)
Besides, any Nazis who are still alive would be very old and doddery by now.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 19:07, closed)
National Socialism died out in the 1940s, you'd think the ANL would change their name or summat.

(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 19:35, closed)
No. Because we all put our brains into cloned bodies in the 1970s.
Except for ROBOFUHRER.
:D
(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 8:14, closed)
Freedom of speech is not absolute.
I can see this tired bit of trolling being rolled out repeatedly, this week.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 20:31, closed)
It's not really trolling
when the argument over what constitutes freedom of speech has been running for two thousand years or so.
Just saying, like.
(, Sat 23 Feb 2013, 21:57, closed)
Twat.

(, Sun 24 Feb 2013, 9:00, closed)
Freedom of speech wins again!
