I have a (very stupid) pet snake
After 6 months in her current tank she still hasn't grasped the idea of glass walls.

But when she nuts herself against one at high speed, she does make a wonderful squeaking sound as she slooooooooowly slides back down it.

EDIT: Yes kids, the little snake is fine. She also does it to her hide hut, so I'm thinking perhaps it's not the idea of walls so much as the concept of stopping before impact that confuses her.

My snake does this also. It is very amusing!

Ooh, what breed?
I'm wondering if mine (corn snake) is an especially moronic breed of snake...

I suppose that's
because where your snake comes from, there aren't any pieces of glass for it to bang into.

Still, nice to see along with being stuffed into a small box, she's also providing you with a laugh when she hurts herself.

I appreciate the mouth-frothing
But my snake was bred in captivity, and raised in a succession of little incubator tubs until she was old enough to be sold. So she comes from a place with lots of glass walls. Your argument is like asking why we stop dogs from savaging people since they're just being naturally feral...

You'd think so,
but then why does she keep crashing into the glass?

I'm sure it's as hilarious as it sounds though. Small animals injuring themselves is always a bit of a hoot. You should paint clown makeup on her sometimes.

Sober people, too.
Blind, sober people.

It's the snake's own fault.
I'm sure that most
other reptiles are
completely au fait with
the concept of heating
sand into a transparent
solid.

A salient point, for sure, made all the more palatable by this innovative poem format.

I don't understand.
If you hate snakes so much why do you keep one?
On the other hand, if you like snakes so much why do you keep one in a tiny glass box and laugh at it when it tries to escape?
Why not keep something you can eat, at least? Unless you eat snake? If so, what do they taste like?
