Nativity Plays
Every year the little kids at schools all over get to put on a play. Often it's christmas themed, but the key thing is that everyone gets a part, whether it's Snowflake #12 or Mary or Grendel (yes, really).
Personally I played a 'Rich Husband' who refused to buy matches from some scabby street urchin. Never did see her again...
Who or what did you get to be? And what did you have to wear?

I've been looking at the complaints
And giving this some thought. Now, I'm not the most regular of posters, but I do enjoy reading these pages. However, I'm not so in love with the complaints. This site is provided to us, free of charge, with the option to provide donations, should you choose to do so.
Secondly, these questions are not meant to be easy, they're meant to provide some stimulus for some good answers, that are outside of the weed, dick and fart jokes so beloved of Cheech and Chong. If you can't answer the question, it doesn't mean it is necessarily crap. It just means that you can't think of anything to say.
Whilst this post is not meant as a dig to anyone, I would suggest if you can't think of anything to say, just suck it up. There are other areas of the site to play in- QOTW offtopic, /talk, /board, and /links. Surely you can think of something to say there, or fire up photoshop and get creating!
This part of the site is not the be all and end all of b3ta, and besides, there will always be another question come Thursday.

But there's been a run of wanky questions for some weeks now...
...that is all.

Hold on...
This'll turn into another discussion about what QOTW is supposed to be, and we got nowhere with it last time.
Can't we just accept that some people think some questions are shit, some like them, and get on with our lives?

I'm curious to see where this ends up.
Although all I was suggesting that just because people can't answer a question doesn't mean it can't provide the same potential for humour.

Don't get me wrong - I agree with you in the most part...
...despite my rant on page one.
However, b3ta is famed for its adult/sick/outrageous humour. I know QOTW isn't always like that, and we've had weak questions in the past...
There's been a voice getting steadily louder about the quality of the questions recently, and I think many of the complaints stem from frustration that noone's listening to regulars who like somewhat more outrageous questions.

This is true, b3ta is indeed known for being outrageous.
And if you think about it, nativity plays kind of push the boat out just that little bit more. But this site isn't just for the regulars, there are the newbies to consider as well.

No offence pb
but that's a pretty weak argument. We should occasionally have questions that won't generate lots of answers or laughs to help newbies feel at home?
Screw that. The better the question, the better the quality of newbie we'll attract, the better the overall quality of the answers, and the happier the QOTWers in general.

It's not the quality of the question I think
More the quality of the answer.

Agreed to an extent
but I stand by my opinion that this question is weak. We'll let the Best page tell the story on Thursday.

*defends self*
I complained early on. It DOES sound like a pretty crap idea.
Turns out that there are some really good stories in there- it's been a surprisingly good QoTW.

I was going to say
This week's Q has actually been really good, in my humble opinion. I thought it might prove to be somewhat shite, but everyone's repressed traumas have really made me laugh.

^^^^^
The other thing - everyone says how brilliant the old qotws were, and there were some classics - but if you look through the "best answers" pages from the first ever qotw, usually about half of them are funny every single week. People just like a qotw when they've got a good answer to it.
There are only so many conceivably funny subjects aren't there - what are some good suggestions?

It's turned out better than I expected.
But the general standard is pretty low, and there's not been anywhere as much activity as when the question is better.
Plus, if Pooflake says it's shit, it must be :)

Nicely put -
There seems to be a shitload of posts with people just badmouthing the QOTW suggestions; not very interesting to read. If you're going to poo-poo the question do it in an imaginative way, like Mr Pooflake has done and I'd like to think I have too. But just bitching on about it is getting pretty dull.
I like reading QOTW and contributing - but I especially like reading it.
Any question set can be answered, but maybe the next few questions could be the sort of topics that most people feel they can tell a story about without having to think too hard about it. Sort of a shoe-in question for newbies. I'd love to read some stuff from new contributors.
That would probably make me go all erect.

Although to be fair the thought of a freshly-raped Jack Russell would probably give you a stiffy.

Or maybe even the old Frankspencer.
Anyway, part of the fun of QOTW is complaining about the QOTW.
That and complaining about people complaining about the QOTW.
It's all good.

QOTW
i used to read every page of the QOTW and laugh out loud - now i don't.
My point is these places (messageboards, forums, etc) are defined by their MEMBERS - so it's not the questions that are shit, but the people who post their eye-wateringly unfunny stories.
