But it would probably get lost in the morasse, so... I'll be arriving from about 9pm this Friday for the London bash, you're all likely to still be there, I hope... am I right in assuming this?

So we got this Acorn Electron from Freecycle the otherday, and we are busy trying to load games.
Now you know how Wagon Wheels look smaller but they are not, it's just that you are bigger? Well I thought that the same was true of old computer software. You remember, you would put something on to load and it would be finished the next day. Well, it's not the case, they really do take a life time.
What else is how you remember?

"Fresh elections at the end of 2007 failed to resolve the crisis, when a party made up of former allies of Mr Thaksin returned to power.
The protesters, who belong to the People's Alliance for Democracy, have been calling on the government to step down since May. "

but it gave me the giggles, so I bring it to you here: Celebrity Sex Faces. It's worksafe, as long as it's okay to laugh like hell.
My favorite was Edith Bunker, though Jack Nicholson was a close second...

In 1995, my mate and his gf moved into a fully furnished house rented by a private landlord. It was clear that the landlord's elderly relative had either died or had just been put into the home, leaving a house full of furniture and other trappings. Even cutlery. They didn't have to buy a thing.
The landlord and missus were real oppressive. They used to turn up at random and do inspections, generally being nosy. Opening wardrobes and the like too.
They even complained if my mate rearranged the furniture. They moved out after 2 years. And received a huge list of reasons as to why they couldn't have their deposit back. Including that they'd thrown away the old lady lace-doilies from the armchairs, and then later replaced them by cutting up a net curtain.
I was just looking through the BNP list and I found the address, with the landlord and his wife living in the house, both of them on the list. Obviously hit hard times then.
Oh how we laughed.
If anyone's interested, it's 91 Severn Street, Hull

Just been for my job interview. They're phoning the successful candidate by the end of today. But since I went in at 12 I now have to shit my pants for another...3 hours or so, and even THEN I'm going to be paranoid that I've not heard anything because I gave them the wrong number.

I'm single again! So my my post on the procrastination QOTW is now invalid. I did it, I finally did it. Mmm, I suppose I should tell my parents, after all it's been over a week since we split. I'll tell them on the weekend, that's what I'll do. We only went out for 2 yrs so it's not that big a deal.

some of teh AIDS research in the Guardian. One of the experts involved is called Dr. De Cock.
Does anyone else find that childishly amusing?
Especially being in Spainland where if you read it in Spanglish it says "Dr. Of Cock"

Is a little help from b3tans...
I'm a bit of a lurker here, but have been given the task of coming up with a 'wish list' for our office Xmas bonus - and I'm hoping to get some inspiration/suggestions from you all!
The problem is that I work in an office of 15 gadget mad guys, have only been here for two months and have NO IDEA what they would want...I've got a budget of about £200 per gift idea, and have to come up with about 20 different gifts, ranging from gadgets to weekends away.
It's supposed to be a surprise, so I can't just go out and ask them what they'd like (although I have tried to gather some info from some of the more trustworthy members of staff...) so any ideas or suggestions would be greatfully received :)
Thanks :)

So, last week, we had record temperatures......and Southern California burned.
Tonight, it started raining. It sounds like Niagara Falls on my patio.
The poor bastards that live in the burn areas, who escaped the fires, now have to deal with the mudslides this will bring on.
I live on a mesa, so I'm ok, but the next couple of days will be interesting with the storm system that's come in.
All we need now is an earthquake to shake things up big style.

Breaking a mirror means you get 7 years bad luck. In Sweden you can counterbalance this by throwing bits of mirror in a river from a bridge and the bits flow under you.
Sweden has a massive problem with glass pollution in their waterways

How are we all? I had a most lovely sickie today, in which I hung around with old friends, got a pitiful exchange rate on my holiday money, bought some medication and found out the library I used to work in has a mini protest going to get me to come back, which is kinda sweet.
