In the Wild West stage coaches would have a driver and a second person with a gun to protect them. That person would have a shot gun, and so the phrase riding shotgun was born.
I did not know this, what don't you know?

Everybody knows that stuff is cheaper to buy online but it lacks the immediacy of going to a shop.
Where do you draw the line? Would a ten percent saving be enough to get you to order online and have to wait, say, two or three days? Twenty percent?

I'm thinking of buying a camera, see. I could get it online for 50-60 quid less than walking into a shop. The difference being that I'd have to wait until next week to actually get my grubby mitts on it, compared to popping in on my way home from work tonight and playing with it all evening.
