Tonight I have called the police for the third time in my life
The first two being street fights (the first small, the second big). It's 6.01am and the people in the flat below mine are still playing music on max volume. I went across to the police station and made damn sure I was calling the non-emergency line from the phone by the door. Hopefully they'll turn up soon.

Edit: This isn't really a question. When did you last want to kill someone?

Alt Q: If you could learn one musical instrument perfectly, what would it be and why?

Alt alt Q: make it up. You're going to anyway.

Bit of an extreme action if you ask me.
If it's something that happens a lot then fair enough. It was a Friday night after all.

Forebearance
Frankly, that you held out until 6:01am before calling the old bill is impressive enough. Friday night it might be - doesn't mean the inconsiderate cunts in the flat below have a right to keep you up all night. Not everyone has the weekend off. Did they even drop an invitation to their party through your box (oo'er missus, etc)?

Oh, edit: Alt. Q., bagpipes: because they sound as bad when you can play them perfectly as they do when you're just beginning.

Had you asked them to turn it down a bit
prior to calling the police, or not? Or are they the kind of people who would likely swing for you if you did?

Drums. Actually no, the cello. Or the saxophone. To be fair, I can play the sax and I'm sure the drums wouldn't be that hard to learn, so cello it is, because it sounds sexy as hell.

We tried that in one flat
If I remember correctly, not much happened, but if they keep doing it and you report it each time, they can, eventually, give them a telling off.

Instrument? Flute. I already play it in an amateur orchestra, but I'm not very good. Other than that perhaps guitar so I could properly rock out

Depends how often it is and how reasonable they are.
I started learning the saxophone this year, then my 13-year-old 'teacher' broke her wrist andwe gave up. MUST start learning again.

Try the council noise/unsocial behaviour line..
..Although I think our councillors are a bunch of self-serving trough-snouting backstabbing bastards, the noise/unsocial behaviour guys are spot-on.
As to the musical instrument, I'd like to play the guitar like Tommy Emmanuel.

I'm impressed
6am? I would have been round there screaming at them hours earlier. my neighbours on one side are similar, think i've more or less got them trained to turn it the fuck down at about 12, though.

I still think that if it's a one off then you take it on the chin.
Mind you, going on till 6am is a bit much.

It's not a one-off
Though they usually pack up earlier. We went to ask them to turn it down at 5am and the response was "We've been here 18 years, now fuck off".

Did they play that Des'Re song "Gotta be" ? I like that song.
