how many people are dead now?
callous, psychochomp. very very callous.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:24, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
8 so far is the initial death toll
it'll be in the dozens by the end of the day.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:25, Reply)
i just can't understand
why people can't understand the basic fundamental principle: nothing is worth killing someone else for. not money, not oil, not gold, not politics, not religion, not even chanel heels.

i just found out that a guy who worked here just before me (ie i took his job when he left to leave london for the countryside) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of 29. he's just had a baby. i only met him once, but the news has knocked me quite sick, 29 ffs. that's so unfair.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:28, Reply)
A mate of mine died from cancer when he was in his early 20s.
Cancer is a right cunt that doesn't discriminate.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:30, Reply)
There's plenty worth killing and dying for
it's just you have all that because people in the past have killed and died to give you the oportunity.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:31, Reply)
Listen "Psychochomp", as one of the lowest paid members of society
I think you'll find Swipey here has a pretty good handle on morality.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:34, Reply)
She pays £424 a month for someone else to be moral for her.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:35, Reply)
A little immigrant guy comes round and does her morals overnight and leaves them on her desk for when she gets in in the morning.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:36, Reply)
ha ha ha
like either of you two would know a moral if it bit you on the arse. you'd probably enjoy it though

so if i am spending £3,500 on fags to shut you up and £424 for rent-a-moral, i still have.... £3,982 left each month to play with. any ideas?
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:35, Reply)
Laptops with arabic keyboards for terrorists?

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:39, Reply)
Oh Swipey
You've really disappointed me here. We all knew you were on over 100K per annum, but you don't have to be so utterly crude as to actually give us precise figures.

This is a real low point.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:43, Reply)
al, you utter spoon
i am being sarcastic. fucking hell, if i earned 8k a month after tax, i'd have retired about 5 years ago!
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:45, Reply)
Or been transferred to another League One club.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:46, Reply)
i am not sure this can be right
how can you (as in one, not as in you personally) think that anything is worth dying for - there's nothing left if you're dead!
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:34, Reply)
There are things worth dying for
if your death results in things being better for those you care about or believe in. Example, some terrible thing was going to happen to the mrs but me standing up for it and suffering and/or dying made it alright for her. I'd do that.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:35, Reply)
that's self-sacrifice
it's not dying in battle or blowing up 57 people on a tube train because you think you are in a battle for something that might well never come to pass - but could come to pass if people stopped blowing each other up and actually talked to each other.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:39, Reply)
Yes I know, but it's still dying.
And you said in this day and age there is nothing worth dying for.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:45, Reply)
love for your partner or child or someone really important is prob the exception to my statement i guess
yeah ok, you can have that one
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:48, Reply)
*smiles smugly and chalks up yet another notch on the "Internet Victories" chalkboard*

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:52, Reply)
ha as if
you got considerably more wound up by my fictitious salary. you don't get to win anything today except an internet wooden spoon.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:01, Reply)
No swipey
I wasn't taking the internet seriously.

Though I am now scared for the other QOTW readers after seeing this:

haha
psychochomp has taken me seriously enough to go and tell /talk (unless that there below is a coincidence, who cares, i'll blame him anyway).

my work here is done.

well, not my work here. that will be taking up my entire sunday, again. :(
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:43, Reply)
You die for other people or ideas
right pay attention, this is pretty important but you haven't seem to have grasped it.

you
aren't
the
most
important
thing
in
the
world
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:37, Reply)
Don't be so ridiculous "Pyschochomp"
Anyone who works as hard as RSwipe for as little reward must be pretty damned important in the scheme of things.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:39, Reply)
ah, i get it now. so you'd happily kill yourself for freedom in tunisia because you clearly think it's really important
how come we don't see you off there on a plane ready to support this amazing revolution that you are so happy to see 8 random people die for, though, can you just explain that, ta!

come to think of it, i'll even buy the ticket for you, think of it as my contribution to world peace.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:42, Reply)
Oh for fucks sake
do you realise how unbelievably thick you sound.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:50, Reply)
Now now "Psychochomp" there's no need to get upset on the internet.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:54, Reply)
Of course there is we're talking politics
there's no point talking politics if I can't call people ignorant Nazis
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:57, Reply)

We do have many 'Young Fascists' on OT.
EDIT - And Monty.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:44, Reply)
we have lots of sarcastic people on here
there are some people that i would never take a word they say at face value. this definitely includes me.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:51, Reply)
i am torn between continuing to wind you up and actually rolling my eyes at you
you are saying that you think this revolution is amazing, but will necessarily be fuelled by a few casualties. therefore that it is ok if some people die if it is for the greater good and it is inevitable.

i am saying, i fundamentally disagree that anything of this nature is worth anyone's LIFE and that people shouldn't ever kill each other. i am sorry if you think that is thick. but then again maybe if i had to exist in milton keynes i would think life is cheap too.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 15:58, Reply)
ZING!
Just missing some sort of Northern reference.

Agree with the not worth a life point.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:06, Reply)
the only problem with the point is
that it needs the whole world to buy into it.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:08, Reply)
It only needs
One to start.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:09, Reply)
I never said it was inevitable.
But yes that's partially what I'm saying.

What you're saying is that people should be shat on for generations and just suck it up because at least they're not dead.

30 years this guys been in power, anyone who tried to organise a peaceful protest was arrested and imprisoned without charge. He's killed dozens if not hundreds of political enemies but that doesn't matter it's not worth risking more life to stop him.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:09, Reply)
It's just not fair.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:12, Reply)
nope, that's not what i was saying
idyllically and unrealistically, i was simply saying that all these things should be resolved peacefully without anyone dying, and the only way to do that is for people to stop killing each other. i'm not saying it will happen. i am just saying that it SHOULD happen.

i am surprised you disagree with this, but i am sure you have your reasons.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:13, Reply)
Wait a sec, don't be so dismissive.
Imagine if there really was nothing worth dying for, therefore also there being nothing worth killing for. Extend that to hurting and you've got a pretty idealistic system.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:05, Reply)
it's psychochomp, gonz
he will automatically dismiss anything i say!
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:07, Reply)

Since when has this been a discussion about some utopian future
this is what's happening in Eygypt now.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:12, Reply)
I don't really know what's going on at the moment, without looking it up, but I've always regarded Egypt as a peceful country, at least on the middle-east scale of things.
What exactly is it people are pissed off about?
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:18, Reply)
Massive corruption
and the fact that they have had the same leader for 30 years and he's effectively a dictator.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:21, Reply)
Manchester United?

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:24, Reply)
And the fact that they no longer have internet.

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:25, Reply)

Pyramid scheme?
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:28, Reply)

Not really
there is widespread unemployment and the whole place is full of darkies and arabs.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:32, Reply)

(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 16:54, Reply)
In the original quote you are right, it is "unspeakably"
but it won't fit. And seeing as it's from Molesworth there's nothing wrong with a few spelling mistakes.
(, Fri 28 Jan 2011, 17:02, Reply)
That's pretty bad, I bet it dropped even more when that list came out.
Who else was servayed? who came last? My money is on simarlia, if ever there was a place on this planet I would rather die than live in, I think that'll be it.... being a nice little white jewish boy.
