Independence Day, just so they knew who they were fucking with.
Chilli and rice for me today, and for the next 3 weeks, the only change is that it'll be jacket potato instead of rice from Thursday.

EDIT: Actually, maybe I'll show them Donnie Darko, so they can be bored to death? See also: War Of The Worlds, Something About Mary, Zoolander, Superbad, etc.

Ferngully: the Last Rainforest?
which Avatar ripped off
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 12:47, Reply)
Avatar was alright 'cus it had neons, without it it would just be yet another forrest film.

(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 12:57, Reply)
I thought it was Pocohontas it ripped off?

(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:07, Reply)
you are wrong
donnie darko is BRILLIANT
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:07, Reply)
No it's not.
It's so far up it's own arse it's near unbearable.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:14, Reply)
yes it is
it's all time paradoxy and curled in on itself and lovely and moving.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:16, Reply)
I just didn't enjoy it, found it very dull
This was made worse by everyone else fawning over how 'amazing' it is. I feel the same about Fight Club too.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:19, Reply)
given my love of sci fi and cyberpunk
I have to admit to being underwhelmed when I first saw The Matrix. There were some cool effects, but the story was nothing that hadn't been done in books for years before.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:23, Reply)
I've never read any Sci Fi, so I thoroughly enjoyed the film.
2 & 3 were shit though.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:27, Reply)
Fight Club is great
book is better though
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:26, Reply)
I didn't enjoy the film.

(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:27, Reply)
ooh! I just realised now I have a DVD drive, I could watch a film!
My choice of DVDs is:
Serenity
Pirates of the Carribean (1 and 2)
The Snowman
The stage show of War of the Worlds
Children of Men
A thing we filmed at LARP once.

OH the choices!
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:29, Reply)
oh yeah
and a pirated version of every episode of The Prisoner

I think I need to work on my DVD collection
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:31, Reply)
Serenity.
Any of the others would simply be a waste of your time.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:31, Reply)
The larp one is an epic tale, though
Goz won't like it, it's set in a forest
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:33, Reply)
It may be epic, but is it really as good as Serenity?

(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:45, Reply)
not so much
I just watched all 10 minutes of it.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:46, Reply)
Ah, fair enough.
Have you seen Firefly?
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:48, Reply)
I am offended that you think I hadn't :(
in fact the only reason I'm not going to the firefly larp this year is that it's fully booked
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:50, Reply)
It's a question I have to ask!
I actually saw Serenity before Firefly, supposedly that ruins it, but I'm not fussed!

Firefly LARP? To each their own, I suppose. Although, I was watching Castle recently, it had Nathan Fillion dress up as a 'Space Cowboy' for Hallowe'en, before his daughter turns to him and says "Come on Dad, didn't you do that about 5 years ago?" Made me chuckle.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:52, Reply)
I've not been able to go yet
but apparently it's good. It's not so much based on the show as on the world the show/film is set in. I have a ship and crew planned and everything. One day I'll get round to it
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:57, Reply)
Sweet.

(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 14:07, Reply)
And it has Jake Gyllenhaal
You forgot to mention Jake Gyllenhaal.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:22, Reply)
really
I only know that guy's name because you always go on about him - who's he, then?
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:23, Reply)
The bender from Brokeback Mountain
The one who helped Heath Slater make a pencil disappear.
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:26, Reply)
never saw broke back mountain
I vaguely remember that batman film
(, Tue 1 Feb 2011, 13:30, Reply)
