Last couple of times I was out late enough and far enough away to need a taxi home, the robbing cunts slapped me with a £10 fare even though it was only 10 minutes' drive.
In future I shall walk, regardless of how far it is.

Most of the time they'll chat with you
if you're not being aggressive. At worst they'll ignore you until you hit someone or look like you're about to stumble into oncoming traffic.

Not in my experience.
I live in a small town where everything shuts at 10, and most of the surrounding towns are the same; even at the weekend there's hardly any police around late at night.
