American Beauty is a great film
Not the best film released in 1999 by a damn sight, but then the Oscars are somewhat blinkered when it comes to sci-fi/animation/films about homegrown terrorism which are basically too clever for Americans to grasp the fundamental point of

I'll admit, I was probably too young to fully 'get it' the first time I watched it, and as such I didn't enjoy it
After much pestering from others, I rewatched it, and found it to be just as dull the second time round.
