I'm probably getting a laptop
I reckon 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive will do.

Any tips for good/bad brands? Good/bad places to buy from?

You're all smart and attractive people who know their stuff. *crosses fingers*

Think lower in the GHz and more cores, the i5/i7 stuff is really good and the battery life is great on them, but the actual GHz on them are less.

How are you tasks for the day coming along?
Good for keeping your mind busy!
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 15:02, Reply)
Not good I'm afraid, it's quite effected me, didn't think it would but it's churned up something bad, father's day tomo too... been on the phone quite a bit.
But still, gotta do something possitive, no time like the pressent to make a start.

Gonna make a spanish style chorizo/bean stew for tonight and then get a start =)

I'm having potato soup currently.
And it's 10am.
I don't know why but I figured you'd appreciate this.

Oh cool, how is it?

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 16:16, Reply)
Well that's understandable
But I admire the willing spirit there.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 15:26, Reply)
Oh my goodness, it's really really really good. I don't know how I made it, I started doing things and then it was done, but it's good.

Cheers, I shall have a look
Might hit the shops in the city, too, since I'm there.

PCWorld/Curries/Dixons are good, but go with someone who knows their stuff.
What sort of budget do you have and what uses do you want it for mostly?
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 16:46, Reply)
Mostly what I do now
downloading American tv shows on mIRC and watching them (I'd probably use a separate big monitor or TV for that). Also playing FB games, chatting on here and general web browsing. No big online games or video editting or anything.

What sort of budget?
You could do worst than these: store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/mac?mco=MjIyNjM0Mjc

Bought an Acer Aspire 5742
Intel Pentium Dual-Core, 2.13GHz, 4GB RAM, 750GB with 15.6 Inch Display. Woo! Collecting it tomorrow...

Regretting only that I've shaken you out of your piss-sodden stupour
But since I've disturbed the White-Lightning soused hornet's nest that is your bleak existance I may as well make a slight effort to half-heartedly bat your pathetic barbs away.

I'm not pompous, I'm pretentious. And I'm not fat, I just have this problem with my metabolism, yeah?
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:01, Reply)
did i mention fat?
no.
too pissed to read at this time of the evening? that's quite an achievement!
and it's not white lightning, it's frosty jack. an altogether higher class of inebriation...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:03, Reply)
You were THINKING fat, you size-ist bully
I believe that Netto are about to launch a B69 sherry, because their creosote sales have been disappointing.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:05, Reply)
Haaaa!
good one.
i didn't know Netto sold creosote, i normally get mine from Wilko's...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:08, Reply)
Try Netto's
You might find it a little more palatable. The local alkys say it goes down nicely with two day old pizza found in the gutter.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:11, Reply)
sounds right up my street.
i'll check it out ;)
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:16, Reply)
Try their rat-poison too
Look at the recommended dosage and try to remember that you're bigger than a rat.

And there's plenty of gutter-leavings lying up your street. The council can't sweep it because you're always lying in the way.

about £400
except that my bank went Eeek! and froze it, and I needed to contact Customer Services and then it took me ages to get through. All sorted now though.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 20:21, Reply)
Ignore all that shit and buy a mac
and then send Steve Jobs all your money and then suck his cock. All the cool kids are doing it.

My laptop broke last week
And the insurance folk just texted me a code for Comet, to the tune of £900. Dithering between spunking the lot on a Sony F13M or buying a slightly gay sub £450 lappy and a digital SLR.
