Which argued that vegetarians who eat dairy products are essentially supporting the veal industry, because veal comes from male calfs of dairy cattle, which, being of no use to the dairy industry, are then slaughtered at a day old and sold as veal.

I, personally, have no problem with this. I think that a good rule of thumb is that the more doey eyed the animal, the better it tastes.

I presume because it's cheaper to not have to look after their welfare for any prolonged period. Not a lot of profit margin in dairy farming, see.
